Hello, another Good Omens vid! This one is about Crowley's No Good Very Bad Six Thousand Years and how being in love is both the problem and the solution!

Hello I am fully back on my bullshit, my bullshit in this case being making a whole new Good Omens vid in about two days and already planning to make yet more.

WELL THAT CERTAINLY WAS A NEW SEASON OF A CANON THAT'S BEEN AROUND FOR QUITE A WHILE

I'm ... making new vids faster than I'm writing fic? Who AM I.

I've been trying to find a way to somewhat coherently yell about how much I overidentify with Aziraphale, and words are apparently hard but I have an off-label use of a Vienna Teng song I'm using instead! So uh *slaps roof of vid* this baby can fit so many feelings about queer narratives and transness and Falling in it!

Possibly in an effort to feel anything like joy after long holiday retail shifts, I spent the last three days making a vid about how absurdly in love Aziraphale and Crowley are! Behold their faces/my ongoing emotions about them/etc.

Hahaha I got my hot little hands on Good Omens files and made this vid in literally four days! It's kind of about being mad at God, and it's a lot about finally being able to vid my Good Omens book feelings, because I've never met a book-to-screen source where I don't immediately attempt to vid my book feelings, I guess.

So! The Good Omens miniseries happened! It's only been my favorite comfort book for half my life, and I was terrified I would be disappointed -- neither the casting nor the trailer gave me that much hope. But then! OH WOW I LOVED IT.

Spoilers, joy. )
CRYING LAUGHING.

Under the cut is the excerpt of an entry I wrote in May 2006, dithering over whether to watch Supernatural. Seriously. Supernatural, 2006. )

Anyway that is all quite silly, and since I should perhaps continue as I began, I'm going to talk about another ridiculous TV show! This one is Eternal Law, which I suspect was created when a bunch of producers got together, listed a lot of the concepts popular on TV right now, and then threw a dart at the list. The darts landed on ANGELS and LAWYERS, which -- why the hell not, I am so there!

I can't actually give anything like a proper review, because I've only seen the first ten minutes and then life interfered, but so far there has been lots of the city of York, a naive and totally adorakble angel named Tom who keeps trying to sing (he was in the heavenly choir!) and a long-suffering angel named Zak who is played by Sam West and has already said "bugger all," which -- I am not sure I have mentioned that in my Good Omens fantasy casting, Sam West absolutely plays Aziraphale? So now, even if he doesn't, my life is a little more complete.

I am writing so many things right now! But none of them are short, which is one of the reasons I haven't been posting fic constantly. (That, and one of the things I am writing is my NOVEL, which also cuts down on fic production.) One of the not-short things is a Good Omens fic, because I just did my semi-annual Good Omens reread, and instead of doing the reasonable thing and just jotting down some Aziraphale/Crowley to get it out of my system, I ... seem to have developed plot.

Then, as I tend to do these days, I ran to Amelia with it. Which resulted in:

Amelia: okay, anything else to figure out?
Amelia: ...like wtf happens in terms of events
Amelia: I mean, that should not be a chore, since GO is basically a string of ridiculous scenarios that are funny and happen to advance the plot
Aria: heh, yeah. I mean, I think I will just sort of ... write, and see what happens.
Aria: you do realize
Aria: that this is basically a bewildering scenario in which I am Terry Pratchett and you are Neil Gaiman
Amelia: we are writing the sequel to GO. Yeah.
Amelia: and hey, they said it didn't get written this way!
Amelia: like, everyone assumes it did, but it didn't
Amelia: "neil gaiman spouts ideas, brainstorms with Terry, Terry does actual writing in his own style"
Aria: ahaha, true! oh man. WE ARE WHAT FANDOM THINKS THEY ARE.

Activities that seem like a good idea whilst laid up with a head cold: watching Hot Fuzz; watching endless clips of the Daily Show. Activities that are in fact a terrible idea whilst laid up with a head cold: see above. The endless laughter is actively dangerous, but somehow, the hacking cough didn't actually stop me watching.

In other news, Good Omens is being made into a miniseries? Or at least people are claiming that Pratchett has said this? I don't think I'm counting it as official until Gaiman talks about it on his blog, but it's mildly exciting anyway. I assume it'll be made by the BBC, and I assume the fandom is going to be disgruntled with anyone they cast; my only real hope is that their Aziraphale isn't young and thin and pretty, because I am way over that fanart. (Actually, my Aziraphale and Crowley look quite a bit like this, so anyone along those lines, assuming they also did the acting bit well, would delight me.) Of course now I want to play the Cast Good Omens Using BBC Actors game, but ... so far all I've got is Caitlin Blackwood as Pepper, because that would be goddamn adorable. And if I could nab Laura Fraser of a decade ago, I'd have her play Anathema Device. Maybe she can be Agnes Nutter instead? I don't know! I'd quite like a lot of delightful people I've never heard of.
I'm not quite sure how this came about -- probably it came into my head from the combination of a discussion on rereading Harry Potter and something I saw in the Thirty Days of Fanfic meme that's going around -- but I have been thinking about Fandom Firsts. Okay, you've got a new fandom: what was the first fic you remember reading? Did it make any lasting impact on your experience with said fandom? &c.

Here are some of mine!

Harry Potter, Good Omens, SGA, Doctor Who, due South, and Highlander. Most of these are RIDICULOUS. But I happily own my fannish absurdity! )

And what about you guys? If you do absurd things like imprint on old fic enough to remember it, I'd be fascinated to hear what it is. And seriously, don't be embarrassed. My stuff is all old school slash or Eliza Snape, okay, I will really not judge you.
I haven't done this meme in about a year, which means it's high time to resurrect it. I don't know if it has official instructions or an official name, but it basically goes: personify your fandoms as relationships and then talk about those relationships! I think it is a very apt thing to do; I was mostly fandomless, if still fannish, from roughly 2005 to 2007, which not coincidentally were the years when I was spending time and energy on a couple of lovely girlfriends. Fandoms can also be kind of like dating.

Harry Potter, Good Omens, Doctor Who, and due South, or: those four fandoms I've had serious flings with. )

It is now extremely important that you do this meme too! either in comments or your own journal, I am not fussed. It's entertaining and potentially informative and might even give you nostalgia for fandoms past.
