Happy Valentine's Day! Today I am celebrating by eating some of the (frankly alarmingly large amount of) ice cream we have stockpiled in the freezer, remembering and appreciating that I have friends who love me, and giving a little something back. Here are a truly ridiculous number of kissing ficlets for your reading pleasure. (NB: I couldn't get to everyone's prompts, and for that I am sorry! I got to as many as I could, though, and I hope you'll enjoy some of those I did write.)

I finished a fic! This is my usual triumphant cry when I finish a fic, which is, inevitably, not one of my WIPs. When I finish a WIP, you will know. Probably because I will sheepishly be posting it in parts. All my WIPs want to be monsters when they grow up.

This fic, on the other hand, just wants to sit down, make fun of romance novels, and get Methos laid. It's actually almost due South levels of cheerful and fluffy, except that it takes place about a week before Comes A Horseman, so ... it's tragedy in clever disguise! Or something.

Fiction, Duncan/Methos; "Oh God, you found Carolyn's book," Duncan said, sounding at least five hundred times less mortified than Methos had hoped. In which I use the hilarious fictional romance novel Blade of the MacLeods to good effect! Or to effect, anyway.
The problem with moving, it turns out, is that I spend a lot of time using my muscles to haul furniture, which leaves my brain free to hang out on the spinning hamster wheel of absurdity. I will now share with you some of the fascinating things that have been going on in my head:

i. I had such fun with yesterday's WIP meme that I thought up a few more. These are less likely to get written, but eh, what are a few more absurd Highlander crossovers among friends?

The White Collar one and the Buffy one. Don't look at me like that. )

ii. This is not actually a real crossover at all, just a thought: Amanda from Highlander/River Song. Possibly with heists. DISCUSS.

iii. There is this fairly hilarious White Collar vid to One Jump Ahead from Aladdin. I thought it was cute and clever at the time, and moved on. But obviously it stuck with me, because today, on my iPod's shuffle, the tricksy iPod oracle started playing "I Won't Say (I'm In Love)" from Hercules and -- my god, I can't stop laughing, it is the most perfect Methos crackvid to ever exist. Except that it doesn't exist yet! Obviously, if I ever do try to learn how to vid, this should be the first one I do; it won't matter if it's rubbish, I'll learn the ropes, and it'll be fucking hysterical.

iv. Speaking of Methos (when am I not speaking of Methos?) I am writing a fic. It's Look On My Works, Ye Mighty, and Despair, as I think I mentioned in the previous WIP post! And I am having my normal longfic troubles with it, ie, I keep being sidetracked by trying to figure out every little last minute detail in my personal canon about Methos, and that is not useful. Therefore! Know how those 'list x pieces of personal canon for x show/character' memes sometimes go around? I'm doing one of those.

20 bits of personal Methos canon. Um, this ended up structured strangely like a fic itself. )

Apparently talking about My Highlander Shame was very helpful, because -- uh, one, that post had a commentsplosion, and I get very happy and enthusiastic when fans come out of the woodwork. But two, some evil wench (whose name is [livejournal.com profile] sophia_sol or something, so you know who to blame) linked me to Methos is like PIE, also known as a fuckton of meta about the possible origins of Methos' name. "Well," I said, "that was a bit evil of you, and just for that, I am going to write a fic with origin stories, just you wait and see."

So, um, then I did!

All That Remains; a bit of Methos/Alexa, as much Methos/Kronos and Methos/Duncan as you choose to see, and Joe for good measure, but mostly just Methos. They always ask eventually.

And no, I actually didn't decide which story was the true one.
...So I wrote Highlander fic.

It's not even the Highlander fic I'm meaning to write, because that one wants to have a plot, and I don't have a plot yet. But I really wanted to write Duncan and Methos, and guess what, the Gathering is basically already a plot. And I wrote it! (Don't blame me for the title. The show poached from Hamlet more than a decade before I got around to it.)

calamity of so long life, Duncan/Methos. I love a good apocalypse.
