Something I have discovered about being polyfannish is that, when I am in the shower or on a bus or folding clothes or whatever it is that puts my brain on screensaver mode, I will start making up crossovers. I love clever crossovers, and clever fusions (and, I'll be honest here, I would be perfectly happy if every fandom ever had a His Dark Materials fusion where all the characters had daemons and this did interesting things to the fic plot). Most of the time I do not actually get around to writing them down, but I do like to pretend that I might.

I am not quite sure why the rest of this post is a poll, except that I am in a poll-making mood and I want to know if people know what I'm talking about.

Buffy/Highlander: Both groups of Watchers are part of the same organization. Post-series for both shows, Duncan goes to visit Methos and discovers that Methos' house has been converted into a Slayer training facility. Also, Joe and Giles have jam sessions.

I'm definitely in favour of the Buffyverse/HL Watchers are Watchers crossover--I think nothing in canon contradicts that idea. Plus, Giles and Joe jamming together? Awesome :D

I'm not so sure on the others, though. Neal comes off to me as too young (emotionally) to be an Immortal, though I can definitely buy Mozzie as one. I like the idea of Lex getting the Inception team to probe Superman's mind, though I wouldn't want it to actually succeed--that's just too disturbing for me!

You make a good point about Neal's emotional maturity! I think it could be believably sold, but whoever was writing it (not necessarily me!) would have to write really excellent Neal.

I have no idea what would actually happen in the Lex-hires-the-Inception-team one. It would be really alarming if they succeeded, wouldn't it.

Sadly, these make no sense to me--I am not polyfannish (except for tiny Yuletide fandoms). I have, however, pondered a due South/His Dark Materials fusion, because obviously Dief would be Fraser's daemon (he kind of is already). I don't have a plot idea for this story, though, so it probably won't get written.

Yes! Dief is obviously Fraser's daemon. But also yes, I don't know how talking!Dief, or indeed Dief interacting with either Ray's daemons, would significantly alter the plot and make it interesting. Alas.

LOL LOL LOL I'd probably read all of these, I read cracky crossovers even when I don't know all the fandoms involved. I'm also writing um, drabbles where all the West Wing characters have daemons, and I'm writing this cracky story where Josh Lyman is Magneto's grandson. (It makes sense! Magneto went to Auschwitz and so did Josh's grandfather and... yeah.)

I will point out that people have already written that Doctor Who/Young Wizards one, and I'm pretty sure I've seen Highlander/Buffy x-overs, though never one I liked.

Well the thing is, he would be a very different sort of Batman! The easiest way to give him the necessary angsty backstory and the necessary funding would be to kill Stella, but I refuse to fridge Stella, so ... I am not quite sure yet! All I know is that Ray has decided that trying to fight crime by being a detective isn't doing enough good fast enough, so he Batmans it up! Then he and Fraser have lots of discussions about morality and it is awesome. Oooor something like that.

I KNOW RIGHT. (Actually, something else that may make you care about Inception fic: Fahye's the manor house, which is Arthur/Eames/Ariadne and AMAZING, and made me care about them, which is a bit of a feat.)
