five things definitely make a post
1. In the past forty-eight hours or so I have seen so many fireworks. Bless the USA's national excuse to make lots of pretty explosions.
2. Explaining Doctor Who: the Big Bang is awesome. It really does explain all the timey-wimey stuff in the finale! I went in mildly curious and came out impressed, because I was fairly sure I understood all the crazy, twisty stuff Moffat did, but that article brought up and then explained things I hadn't even noticed.
3. I spent the entire first half of this year wondering where the hell my ability to write like a fiend had gone. Part of the answer, of course, was that I was channeling my writing energy into hoarding college memories; the other part of the answer, apparently, was that I was waiting for Methos. He is my freaking kryptonite. I will drop everything to write him. He has five thousand years of potential untapped backstory! He's sarcastic! He is full of twisty complex motivations and lies to everyone, even himself! He is kinky about swords! My god, it's like every day is my birthday.
4. Because the internet has been exploding with talk about it (and also because
nextian and
anekdot explained at some length all the reasons I would love it) I have started, finally, watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. (Reason #4493 I hate James Cameron: fuck you, I just want to say 'Avatar' and have people know what I'm talking about. Fewer blue people, more flying bison! Or is it buffalo?) I am now exactly halfway through first season, and I love it. Good people doing good things! Positivity and laughter in the face of adversity! My strange fascination with earthbending! FLYING BISON!! And I am told that it only gets better.
5. I celebrated the 4th of July by going to see Toy Story 3. The magical thing about the Toy Story mini-franchise is that each one is better than the last. I suspect it's because, as these things go, the toys are some of Pixar's most wonderfully fully-realized characters. I haven't really loved a Pixar film since The Incredibles -- I mean, yeah, every one since has made me cry with laughter or pathos and I've enjoyed the hell out of myself, but I'd never bothered to rewatch any of them. This one, on the other hand -- wow. Like I said, I think it's because I already deeply care about these characters, and because I basically grew up with them, but it's also just the conceit in general: of course toys move and talk and have crazy adventures when you're not looking, and of course, of course they love you. I guess what I mean is that if I'm going to see a kid's movie, I don't want to be talked down to; I want to be yanked hard into that other world and kept there enthralled.
And yeah, I had tears streaming down my face at the end. A++, would watch a million billion times. Would also ship Woody/Buzz/Jessie really hard. And also Ken and Barbie. Oh my god, Ken and Barbie. <3

*ahem*
Awesome show. Glad you're enjoying it. (zuuuukooooo)
Also, I dunno if you've seen this, but it's a timeline of all the events of TBB in a linear fashion by character. Sadly, the fez does not get its own timeline.

Oooh, I had not seen that link! I am pleased to see, though, that though the fez does not get its own timeline, River's timeline does include "murders the fez". Poor fez.

Toy OTthreeeeee.
I really need an appropriate icon
PS if you have a weird fascination with earthbending, SEASON TWO WILL BY YOUR CRACK. By which I mean, Toph is my Internet gf.
Except for all my other Internet girlfriends on this show.Um sorry I'll talk about something else now.
Re: I really need an appropriate icon
But also +1 on everything you said. Show rocks a lot. (oh my god, so hard not to pun. That's how much it rules.)
Re: I really need an appropriate icon

Tragically, I have no Avatar icons on DW. You get beamyfaced Nine instead, and I'll pretend that I cunningly planned it that way to address the Doctor Who part too!

YESSSSSSSSSSSS. Only I really don't get the shipping this movie tries to give us. I do not.
