YOU DO NOT REQUIRE TEA??

A day late, one with Daleks!

It was all right! I think it is my least favourite so far, but only because I am SO TIRED OF DALEKS. And also because I watch Doctor Who for the character work, and there wasn't that much of it this time. That's perhaps a little surprising, because it's the Doctor and Daleks, but I did adore his interaction with them. HE HIT ONE WITH A WRENCH. I keep procrastinating on having Thoughts On Eleven, because I want more episodes to work with first, but I was hoping that Eleven would be scary (in completely different ways than Ten was), and hitting Daleks with a wrench probably qualifies at least a bit.

I really had no sense of danger from the Daleks at all, though. Like, the only time I was seriously worried was when they turned on all the lights of London in the middle of the Blitz. The rest of the time, when the Doctor was messing about in their ship and when they were threatening to explode the Earth, I just ... didn't care. On the other hand, I enjoyed them? The ironsides Daleks were adorable and CARRIED TEA TRAYS. The Doctor threatened them with a cookie, and we could all tell it was a cookie about five seconds in! The new ones are super old school and ridiculous and you can PERSONALIZE YOUR OWN DALEK BY COLOUR.

Amy is still amazing! She uses her brain to save things! And her dorky historical glee warmed my soul. As did the Doctor kissing her forehead in joy near the end. ♥Eleven'n'Amy♥

The overall season arc, too, while not subtle at all, is intriguing me! I suspect that the crack in reality, and the apparent rewrite of lots of recent history that involves Ten and his exploits (ie the s4 finale), and possibly Amy herself, are all interconnected somehow. I greatly desire for it to be Time War-related inasfar that Ten's last fix messed with reality again, but I would understand if Moffat doesn't want to use Rusty's old plot devices. (What I really want is for the crack to be related to the Master trying to get free of the War, but in my heart of hearts I would much rather have recurring Master time in s6 instead.)

Anyway, this one was okay, I am SCARED OUT OF MY MIIIIND for the next two-parter.

This is largely irrelevant to your post, but when white-Dalek and blue-Dalek came out, I was SO READY for the third one to be red and for there to be a whole meta thing about the Daleks appropriating British patriotism/wartime spirit and characterising themselves as the plucky underdogs fighting off the rest-of-the-universe onslaught. I was so ready that I was already LOLing. And then the third one was orange.

It was strangely anticlimactic for me.

Also, Bracewell's "My Ironsides!" desperately saddened me for some reason that probably does not exist outside the realm of "Stella is hormonal".
