aria: ([hark!] men kissing)

in which aria has somewhat mixed taste

i. Link o' the day: What About, a multifandom vid about women being awesome. As sometimes happens when I watch things about women being awesome, I started crying for reals, because I'm kind of a nutcase.

ii. In other reasons I am kind of a nutcase, this Hark! A Vagrant! strip is a really good depiction of my day:

I'm most of the way through Breaking Dawn, guys. I can't put it down. It's so crushingly terrible. It's full of so many creepy things that I deeply disagree with! I'm so sad we ever got Jacob's POV because it's 1000x more entertaining than Bella's! The less spoken about the demonbaby pregnancy the better! BELLA IS THE ~*BESTEST VAMPIRE EVER*~! It's like they put crack in the pages. I can't wait to see the poor actors do all these scenes when they get to adapting this one for film. I can absolve myself of my shame by writing filthy Jacob/Edward porn, right? Right?

[On that note: I'm probably asking in the wrong place, because I expect most of you are kind of judging me for Twilight-talk already, but does anyone know where there's good fic? Any good fic at all? The AO3 is giving me nothing, and I'd like me some Jacob/Edward! Alice/Bella! Awkward cross-species OT3 fic! Carlisle/anyone! Just ... anything that fucks with canon, basically. And I can't write it all myself. Help?]

iii. White Collar is back tonight! It was not actually exciting enough to deserve cut text. :( STEP IT UP, WHITE COLLAR. Needs moar Elizabeth, I think. Actually, I just want the whole show to be like 1x08: subtext & trust & El!! Next episode looks promising, anyway.

iv. I absolutely have an essay due tomorrow that I have barely started writing! I can't tell if my complete failure to be stressed about this is faith in my writing abilities, sheer hubris, or really epic senioritis. All three? Anyway, I'm probably not sleeping much tonight.

That was my reaction to that vid, too. It is the sort of vid that makes you all teary eyed from its sheer awesome.

Okay, if you find anything good with Carlisle, I will totally read the shit out of it. I'll give you that.

I am pretty much doing the same on the essay. I have like two paragraphs, and then I got distracted by Adam Lambert. I'm not terribly worried, though. I'm terribly blase about essays.

(You should check your Facebook messages.)

I think it's that there's so much potential awesome there. And, yes, the intelligence things. I feel the same way about film!Carlisle; it's not just you.

I don't have a real thesis. I have notes and a general outline, so I'm going to write the paper and then see what my thesis was. XD

ALL I WANT IS THE ADVENTURES OF CARLISLE AND THE VOLTURI. THAT IS ALL I ASK OF THE WORLD.

also Jacob/Sam

REALLY I WOULD JUST READ ANY NUMBER OF BOOKS ABOUT THE ADVENTURES OF THE VOLTURI. I AM SUCH A SUCKER FOR ELABORATE SECRET SOCIETIES, ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE FILLED WITH SUPERNATURAL CREATURES.

Jacob has ALL LEAH'S MEMORIES OF SEX WITH SAM. And they are all rawr rival pack leaders. How can the plot go in any other way?

YESSS. I actually spent the entire time I was reading the first book mentally plotting a crossover with Annie Dillard's The Living that was just Carlisle hanging out in the Puget Sound area in the 1800s.

On an unrelated note, can I just say how awesome it is that Bella's sekret super power turns out to be SUPERCODEPENDENCY?

this and this are the only two Twilight fics I've read that have stunned me, not that I hugely dabble in the fandom.

I do remember not being able to stop reading the books, though I still haven't read Breaking Dawn. I guess that felt Bella uterus was just too much horror to take. I think it's mostly that they're so easy to read and that it has a strange quelity that makes you want to read it in a sitting that Twilight has been so successful - or at least, it's not as depressing as people actually thinkign Edward is OMG so HAWTTT and SWEEET. Yeah.

Well, I once wrote a Twilight fic? Jacob/Bella because he's the only character I can stand in the books. I also found some pretty decent fic also for that ship, but ended up being too creeped out by the fact that most of the people there were rabid Harry/Hermione shippers that weren't afraid to be vocal, yikes. Anyways! These are all in my memories in my lj, I think.
