and there's hell to pay below
i. Eleven & Amy photos! I am delighted to discover that my vast ridiculous sadness for Ten is not in any way dampening my excitement for Eleven. Also: on looks alone Amy is threatening to bump Martha off top spot in Aria's Companion Crushes. [/shallow]
ii. I think I end up making an Active WIPs post every six months or so. Here is January's!
01. Doctor Who; after me comes the flood [1306 words]
This is what I am actively working on at the moment, and wow it is slow going. I don't think it's because I'm out of practice writing Whofic; rather, I'm trying to rewrite something that was emotionally difficult in the first place into something that's even more emotionally difficult, and I have to be careful with it. I may also have psyched myself out for it a little, because I told myself going in that I wanted it to be a thematic sequel to the naming of things, and that's a slightly scary thing to tell oneself.
In brief: The End of Time, take two, now with emotional & plot continuity! I'm giving Donna more to do, I'm giving the Master ... different things to do, and I'm still killing Ten but I'm going to do it properly.
02. Doctor Who; The Care and Feeding of Your Atomic Bomb [264 words]
This one may or may not take a back seat to #3 on this list, because #3 is actually a fix-it, whereas this is just born from my desire to write Rose and Martha in love. I adore both of them, it really is high time I wrote some women in love with each other for a change, and honestly, I just think it'd be fun.
In brief: Martha falls through the Rift into Pete's World and ends up working at Rose's Torchwood. Steampunk! Alien invasions! Martha/Rose! The basic idea is carried out in this ficlet, although I think in the main this fic will be from Rose's POV.
03. Doctor Who; Jones and Tyler's Interdimensional Boyfriend Swap [0 words]
I admit that this one is still just an idea, but it's a really awesome idea, and possibly the most directly fix-it-like thing I am writing; I was bewildered and somewhat annoyed at the Martha/Mickey in the finale, and I ... could make it make sense with a drabble, but instead I feel like perhaps making it awesome crack.
In brief: Martha/Mickey! Actually, to be honest, my notes for this fic merely read, with slightly insane excitement, Ten/Rose, Ten/Martha, Martha/Rose, Martha/Mickey, Rose/Mickey, Mickey/Jake, Jake/Martha! I'm not sure where I'm going with this but I'm fairly sure it's awesome.
04. Doctor Who; No Second Chances [2872 words]
This desperately needs a title change, but I'm sure that can be arranged. In the meantime, I rediscovered this fic to my great delight; apparently I'd written almost 3000 words of human!Ten/Rose, edging sneakily towards human!Ten/Master, and then forgotten about it. I still like most of those words, and I want to keep doing things with them.
In brief: Rose and the human Doctor are living as happily as can be expected. The Master turns up again. The Doctor panics a bit, and also probably runs away with him and becomes evil because I'm worryingly self-indulgent about this particular OTP.
05. due South; Burning Down the House [1219 words]
This is another fic that is going incredibly slowly; it used to be going slowly because I was unsure of my Fraser voice, but now it's partly that I'm not sure quite how to tell it, and partly that, just as with #1 above, I'm trying to write something emotionally difficult and I want to be careful.
In brief: Benton Fraser is actually literally insane. I don't want to give away anything, not least because I haven't quite figured out how I want to tell this story, but the header warnings will probably be along the lines of: it will be really awful whether you ship Fraser/Vecchio or Fraser/Kowalski, and it is also deathfic, and ... I am probably not pitching this well unless you thrive on due South stories that are intent on destroying your soul. But it will be fantastic, really.
06. due South; Neutral Zone [18730 words]
Although I have four Doctor Who fics listed to my two due South fics, I promise, the numbers come out about even: this is my dS big bang, and as
spuffyduds said to me earlier upon hearing my wordcount, That's not a bang so much as a KABOOM. Yep. Any way I calculate it, the projected wordcount comes out somewhere in the realm of 90,000 -- which means that once I'm finished with the current Doctor Who fic, I'd better put everything else on the backburner if I want to have the least hope of getting anything near a complete draft done by April.
In brief: Kowalski turns up mid-s2, much to Fraser's happiness and Vecchio's vague horror and Kowalski's bewilderment. It's eventually F/K/V, but in the meantime it's a lot of other things, like a retelling of far too much between The Promise and Good for the Soul. Yes, I am aware that I'm completely bonkers.

05. This is indeed the story I was talking about at Wiscon. You're all awful enablers. :D
She's just so beautiful!
