Two unrelated happy things:

i. OH MY GOD WHAT, THESE PHOTOS!! I cannot believe I have somehow missed seeing this before! It's a bunch of pictures of Stephen Colbert at the winter Olympics; he rides a moose! he waves a Canadian flag! he hangs out with Johnny Weir! he wears a Mountie uniform! HE WEARS A MOUNTIE UNIFORM WHILE RIDING A MOOSE. I think important parts of my brain just broke from the awesome.

ii. Three years ago, I started watching Babylon 5, really loved it, got through the first three seasons, and then stopped because the semester had ended and I no longer had access to my friend's DVDs. We started rewatching them together at the beginning of this semester; I've now borrowed her complete season three and, because my week is scheduled in a kind of wacky and awesome way, I'm ... pretty much mainlining the entire season tonight. I'm sure I'll sleep eventually?

In the meantime, holy shit, this show keeps making me cry. I already knew that I loved it, because for three years I have avoided looking up anything at all to do with it because I do not on pain of death want to be spoiled for anything in s4&5 (even the resolution of s3's CLIFFHANGER ENDING AHHH that I am beginning to get really anxious about arriving at again); what I did not know is how much I love it.

A lot of it has to do with the way that Ivanova and Delenn are my amazing space girlfriends, and how the show is really good at passing the Bechdel test, and and and. I care about basically everyone! I want to give them all hugs, and like I said, they keep making me cry. (This season, G'Kar is making me cry with joy! Every season Londo makes me cry from the fucking tragedy.)

Also, my OTP is actually canon, which I ... don't actually know how to deal with. They operate in such an awesome-partners-fighting-crime way that, when they suddenly have tender shippy obviously-intentional moments, I'm caught completely off guard. It's like, wait, my OTP is not just subtext? I am pretty sure they have epic makeouts near the end of the season, if I'm remembering correctly! I'M NOT SURE HOW TO HANDLE THAT.

Deep in my soul, though, I think I love this show so much because what they do with time travel makes my knees go weak.

I am not actually ready to have real discussions about this show yet! But apparently I needed to get my joy out there. Also I am curious if anyone knows what I'm going on about or if I'm talking excitedly into a void. (If I am talking into a void? I don't know if the show jumps space sharks at some point, and the alien prosthetics are occasionally hilarious, and the special effects are low-budget early-90s, but WATCH THIS SHOW, IT IS GREAT.)

I need to rewatch Babylon 5, yes I do. I watched it when it aired, but that was what, um, 15 years ago now?

Sheridan/Delenn! I keep being SO DEEPLY WEIRDED OUT when they go on dates/fight Shadows together/are generally epic and shippy at the same time.

Yeah, about fifteen years now! I bet it would be a really cool rewatch, too, because you'd probably get lots of additional things from it.

I HAVE SQUEE TOO! B5 is so amazing. And I, too, have trouble coping with the idea that I'm shipping the canon het OTP. BUT THEY ARE SO LOVELY TOGETHER AND DELENN'S IDEA OF COURTSHIP IS TO GIVE SHERIDAN WEE SPACESHIPS AND THEIR LOVE IS PROVED WHEN JACK THE RIPPER TORTURES THEM.

I have to confess that your B5 reaction posts a while back were mildly torturous, because I wanted to click the cut texts SO BADLY. In about two seaons I will be running not walking to read all those posts.

YES. I finished s3 last night, and I am kind of in AGONIES because my friend with the DVDs rightly wants to watch the beginning of s4 with her to witness my reaction, and sdkldf WHY AM IN NOT WATCHING MORE RIGHT NOW?
