things to do this weekend

Discovery du jour: I am unexpectedly okay at working with charcoal. This observation courtesy of yesterday's drawing class; for the first time I'm honestly pleased with my work. Now I can't wait for figure drawing -- perhaps I will be able to do figure drawings in charcoal, and it will be a perfect storm of things I actually enjoy. I am still very much not an artiste, because my artistic talents are limited to things like doodling Fraser and Rays hanging out in the snow in the back of my Spanish notes, but that's probably okay.

Meanwhile I am about to have a long weekend! Should I worry about grad schools? Probably. Will I try to write things instead also? Well, yes. My WIP list is shamefully long, and even has a few items on it that are not due South, but today is not the day to work on those. In fact today is the day to talk about due South crossovers &/or fusions, because I seem to be accumulating those.

At the moment, there are only three of them:
i. Darryl and Fraser. What will they do? Why, they will quote Shakespeare and possibly the Bible at each other, and Darryl will try to tempt Fraser, and it might be slightly epic not in the length sense but in the epic struggle of good vs evil (or is it!) sense.
ii. Ehh, various of my Canadian fandoms hanging out in the Last Night universe. I'm sure this has already been done, but I feel that to properly be in C6D fandom I have to write one of these also. I am not sure what all it would have in it -- probably due South, Slings & Arrows, Hard Core Logo, and maybe My Life As A Dog if I'm feeling like a particularly horrible person.
iii. due South/Young Wizards fusion. Fraser comes to Chicago on the trail of the killers of his father, meets Ray Vecchio the Advisory wizard, and probably fights the Lone One with Ray Kowalski. Oh, and I think they're teenagers. I don't even know, okay.

The point, though, is that I need to know what to write. (I mean, obviously the answer is "Darryl and Fraser" but I think what I am trying to do is just take a headcount for interest. Or maybe you are genuinely interested in one of the other ideas more than Darryl and Fraser. Freak.)

I feel like Fraser would at least cite Geoffrey Tennant to back up his claims about Hamlet. Just sayin'.

<3 write this please!

What where when how did YW get more votes than Darryl and Fraser?

Absolutely Darryl and Fraser but that does NOT let you off the hook for the others. Now that I know some of the contents of your WIP folder I'm going to pester you a lot more. Just sayin'.

Awwww, no weeping, honey. I'll be here with tea and tissues and chocolate. Cause I want to see that list too. How are you ever going to have time for grad school? :D

Obviously you MUST write Darryl and Fraser but now you've tempted me with a DS/YW fusion I'll probably cry if you never write it. There will be tears. I'm not above emotional blackmail.

I - um! Oh gosh. Well, I'd like to see Stella. Stella and Ray were, obviously, wizardly partners who had some tremendous breakup after a devastating experience on Errantry or... something. (Or, I don't know, she switched to another school and they grew apart, which is probably both more realistic and a genuine representation of what happens to them in the actual show. Plus it's exactly like what Nita stresses about in A Wizard Abroad.) Elaine would be having her Ordeal! Evil mountie whose name I forgot is an overshadowed wizard! (DISTRESSING. But also, does this make Bob also a wizard? FRASER AND BOB COULD BE JUST LIKE ROSHAUN AND HIS FATHER.) But plotwise... gosh, not a clue, there's a reason why I write mostly dribs and drabbles. Fraser has to come to Chicago to see an advisory because there isn't one further North, or not an expert further North (OR Bob was the advisory. But there are only like... however many Senior wizards, seems not that unlikely that the Northern Territories wouldn't have one.)

I don't know! But Fraser would TOTALLY be the best teenaged wizard ever.

Hmm, I think I'm actually more interested in your non-crossover due South WIP:s. Although I'm probably happy as long as the resulting story contains Fraser in some way.

I'm still chomping at the bit for your alternative s1/2 F/K/V fic. :-)

Will there be porn in the Darryl and Fraser? I am not sure how I feel about that prospect, but otherwise this story is relevant to my interests. Especially the epic parts, they would quote the Bible *and* Shakespeare *and* Milton. (Aside: I can't remember if you're an English major, but back in the day one of the requirements for the major was that you had to take two out of three Shakespeare, Chaucer, and Milton courses... every few years someone would try to make the department get rid of this requirement but they hadn't as of the late nineties, although they may have done so by now. Why yes, I am procrastinating and have work to do, why do you ask?)

Okay, good. Not that I am against porn, I would just be... really interested in seeing how you would make that work with the characterization.

*laughing* I actually took all three and an additional semester of Shakespeare because at the time I wasn't interested in anything written after the 19th century--or at least anything that there were courses offered about--but I feel like you can probably fake the Milton for fic purposes. I mean, look at most Supernatural fanfiction. *g*

If you will pardon my unasked for offers of assistance, I totally volunteer to help you with the Milton. Or you could just fake it, and it will be just fine. Or you could read Paradise Regained, as it is only about 60 pages.

Okay, so tonight there was the following conversation in my house:

DAD: There's this Dan Brown story generator game on the internet!
ARIEL: Like Dan Brown choose your own adventure? Why would you even do that?
DAD: It's not really choose your own adventure. You put in a city and an agency and stuff it generates a Dan Brown story for you.
ARIEL: Huh.
DAD: So I put in 'Chicago' and 'Mounties'.
ARIEL: ...
DAD: Apparently there is a secret evil Mountie cabal engaged in an epic battle with Zappos.com.

Yeah, I don't even know. My family, seriously.
