Useless thought-on-the-bus du jour: Canadian Torchwood would be hilarious. No, no, listen: Paul Gross is Jack, and Callum Keith Rennie is Ianto, and Hugh Dillon is Owen, and Molly Parker is Gwen, and Sandra Oh is Tosh. I realize that Sandra Oh as Tosh makes zero cultural sense, but they would make up for it by letting her kick alien ass now and then rather than just programming stuff. I am suddenly a lot more excited about the Owen-is-a-zombie arc, and meanwhile CKR is wondering why he has scenes with a CGI pteradactyl, and Paul Gross is busy smarming around in a coat. Oh, and Don McKellar plays Rhys.

I am at work, so I should actually work instead of thinking about this stuff, and I have no idea if anyone else has enough Who-universe/C6D crossover fannishness to actually find this funny, but it's my last day at work and therefore I have some kind of imparative to be briefly silly and useless.

I had a brief moment of "Huh? CKR and PG are the wrong way round, surely?" but I think Paul Gross would do the coat thing better, and that is key. :D I would watch the living daylights out of Canadian Torchwood. No lie.

Heh, whereas it just seemed self-evident to me. Possibly it's because Paul Gross playing the teaboy and CKR playing the American action hero is too ... due South on crack? Whereas I think I would love to watch PG be fifty-first-century-sexual and CKR be quiet and ironic whilst wearing nice suits. Either way I would probably watch the living daylights out of it also (and possibly actually ship Jack/Ianto -- not that I don't ship it, I just don't really ... care).

That's the thing - it works either way, but one way is a familiar and reliably delicious flavour of crack and the other way is a new and exotic flavour. To me, anyway, as I'm a C6D noob.

I shipped Jack/Ianto hard, but not as hard as I would in Torchwood Canada.

Huh! In the main, outside due South, PG is frequently RIDICULOUS (not that he is not also ridiculous in dS, but in a ... more staid way; possibly to get the right idea you should extrapolate from the way Fraser got when he hit his head in North) and CKR is frequently quiet and ironic, nice suits optional. So that casting clicked pretty quickly, and I'd love to see it because it'd be well within their range but also something they hadn't done before with each other. Sensemaking?

Totally. I really wish I'd seen more of their stuff but the DVDs I'm able to find online are always region 1, which makes me sad. My mission is an ongoing one, however. I like long-term goals; they give me direction. :)
