Dear Thor fandom,

Loki is not delicate and weepy. Seriously, please stop that. I know he spends most of the film with tears in his eyes and I know that he has a slight build compared to Thor, but this is no excuse. Loki is a calculating manipulative bastard who feels everything and doesn't function well in a culture where "JUST HIT THINGS" is the solution, and that is much, much more interesting than one-note woobiness. Make a note of this, and go rewatch the movie or read some comics or some myths or -- fuck it, DWJ's Eight Days of Luke, I don't care. Just fix this.

Carry on with the Thor/Loki, though, that's pretty awesome.

Tell you what, how about I write a brilliant character-driven AU about Loki being banished to Earth, and you write the (Non-)Adventures of Emo Loki. IT WOULD BE BRILLIANT.

I am totally on board with this plan. It's going to be songfic, you know, with lines from How Soon Is Now? not just used to bookend sections, but to drive the emotional development at key moments, too. I say emotional development. I mean the bit where (spoiler alert!) EVERYONE REALISES THAT THEY HAVE BEEN WRONGING LOKI FOR ALL THESE YEARS AND NOW THEY NEED TO MAKE AMENDS. And Loki cries. But it's the good kind of crying.

(But what pairing shall I go for? Maybe there's a bit where Sif and Thor compete for Loki's affections and Loki thinks they're mocking him because he just doesn't understand what it means to be loved????)

Obviously it would be Sif and Thor competing for Loki's affections! And at the end the Warriors Three also realize how TERRIBLE they've been to Loki and they ALL want him now because they see how amazing he really is!

(Or maybe everyone always wanted to sleep with Loki, and that's why they never hugged him, but they wanted to sleep with him without RESPECTING HIM AS A PERSON and they must LEARN that Loki is more than just a pretty, fragile, waif-thin beauty with soft lips and kind, kind eyes, but he's also a DEEP SOUL who writes AMAZING POETRY, and it doesn't matter that Loki can't fight because they'll all fight for him.)

YOU ARE A GENIUS! Odin was only ever mean to Loki because he knew in his heart that Loki would grow to be more loved than Odin could ever be, and he was JEALOUS and also HAD A DRINKING PROBLEM And STIFLED LOKI'S CREATIVITY. (He used to burn Loki's poems in front of him. And then tell him he had to compete with Thor because only one of them could be King. ...wait, that last bit's canon.)
