could be worse

Activities that seem like a good idea whilst laid up with a head cold: watching Hot Fuzz; watching endless clips of the Daily Show. Activities that are in fact a terrible idea whilst laid up with a head cold: see above. The endless laughter is actively dangerous, but somehow, the hacking cough didn't actually stop me watching.

In other news, Good Omens is being made into a miniseries? Or at least people are claiming that Pratchett has said this? I don't think I'm counting it as official until Gaiman talks about it on his blog, but it's mildly exciting anyway. I assume it'll be made by the BBC, and I assume the fandom is going to be disgruntled with anyone they cast; my only real hope is that their Aziraphale isn't young and thin and pretty, because I am way over that fanart. (Actually, my Aziraphale and Crowley look quite a bit like this, so anyone along those lines, assuming they also did the acting bit well, would delight me.) Of course now I want to play the Cast Good Omens Using BBC Actors game, but ... so far all I've got is Caitlin Blackwood as Pepper, because that would be goddamn adorable. And if I could nab Laura Fraser of a decade ago, I'd have her play Anathema Device. Maybe she can be Agnes Nutter instead? I don't know! I'd quite like a lot of delightful people I've never heard of.

According to Neil Gaiman's twitter it's being written by Terry Jones, which I rather approve of. Also, that is AWESOME fanart.

I have always sneakily thought that a slightly blonder version of Stephen Fry was who they had in mind when writing Aziraphale, and he's who I've always pictured. I could be wrong.

In two minds about casting for Crowley b/c on the one hand obvi having a character of colour would be nice, on the other hand, is it a terrible thing to make it be the sexy demon?

Yeah, it would be very unlikely, I agree!

He's the (or at least a) hero of the story to me too. IDK. On the other hand I think it's probably better to err on the side of more characters of colour and make some mistakes? I don't know?

Oh my god, seriously? I can't tell whether I'm excited or dismayed yet; I secretly thought this would never happen. A miniseries is better than a movie, probably ...

Also, that's some nice GO fanart that I hadn't seen yet! I used to get so frustrated with people for portraying Aziraphale as barely out of his teens (in appearance, anyway).

My mental casting for Aziraphale is Cary Elwes, at his current age, as an actor who...well, you can see that he used to be angelically good-looking, but the passage of years and unhealthy eating have rendered him a bit pudgy and pasty. I could definitely also see Stephen Fry, though.

...Not that I really regard either of these as likely choices. Ah well.

IKR? I was doing a search for pictures of him a while ago and went, "!!!" All he needs is a tweed jacket, and/or a tartan necktie.

If this is the same studio that did the two Discworld adaptations, I'm a little leery: from what I've seen, they're pretty hit-and-miss on casting. (Why is Rincewind in his seventies? Why is Twoflower WHITE? And yet, Christopher Lee as the voice of Death: clearly the greatest thing ever.) Still, better a miniseries than a feature film that wouldn't have enough time to tell the whole story.

WHATWHATWHAT. That is indeed news! I am not sure yet what adjective ought to modify "news". I am... both excited and worried? Because it could be AWESOME or SO SO WRONG. I'm hoping it's not the latter.

The Aziraphale and Crowley in the picture you linked are awesome, but I have a different Aziraphale and Crowley indelibly imprinted on my brain, because my current desktop is this picture of them. So if they don't look like that, I will be extremely weirded out.

I am so sorry you're sick! It sounds like you have it worse than I did, too. Drink lots of tea, that is clearly the solution. =)

I am still excited for Good Omens! It could be really great, and if it isn't, we'll always have the book. Still thinking about casting...
