my paul gross arms of joy cannot be textually conveyed
LET'S TALK ABOUT THE WAYS IN WHICH TODAY IS AMAZING.
+ Despite still being only about 60% of a functional Aria, I've done all the work I needed to do. (Except the reading for the racefail class, but that's, um, my self-prescribed naptime tomorrow. :D?) Basically I am a ninja of accomplishment.
+ My pants are starting to fit again! Now let's see if I can make them fit for real by going back to the gym when I am at least 90% of a functional Aria instead of, say, just subsisting on soup and ginger ale.
+ I am suddenly wildly excited for the due South Seekrit Santa. (Have I mentioned that I love how it's spelled "seekrit"? Best fandom ever alkdfkkdsfjs.) I have been asked to write a story I did not know I desperately wanted to write until I was asked, but wow, I desperately want to write it.
+ I have yet more new Hugh Dillon music. Did I just say best fandom ever? I mean it. Best. fandom. ever.
+ There is another Sherlock Holmes trailer. I could continue this masquerade of insisting that I will be watching this film behind my hands, but let's be honest, I've spent the last few weeks unironically enjoying the High School Musicals and Eastwick and the Plan. I have no taste. More importantly, THEY'VE BEEN FLIRTING LIKE THIS FOR HOURS. I don't care how much weirdass gothica steampunk supernatural whatchamahoozit aesthetic this film has, it also apparently has the Holmes/Watson subtext turned up to eleven.
+ And, of course, my perennial Wednesday night joy, Eastwick! I have a kind of mixed-bag reaction for this one, but I still like it much better than last week's and mixed-bag reactions are par the course. (Also, my mental graph: more Darryl, more episode enjoyment. It really is that simple, although possibly not that shallow because I now love Roxie JUST AS MUCH.)
I would say I am sad that Darryl and Roxie didn't really get a scene together barring the opening one, so Darryl had no Moment Of Insight for her and instead mocked Kat's list but made up for it by playing piano sddfs.lfsdd and then made me cower in a corner fearing for Joanna's sooooul by which I mean Joanna finally managing to pull up my embarrassment squick. Luckily I expected her to be fired and was braced for that scene. Most of Joanna's plotline right now is making me twitch, not least the continued stackpile of Artificial Reasons Joanna & Will Can't Be Together: this week, it's Kat making friends with the bad decision dinosaur! I admit that the literal spark made me laugh, but ugh Will bores me now, and I want Joanna and Kat to have happy unguilty cohabitation.
Kat herself, on the other hand! WEAR CLEAVAGEY RED DRESSES ALWAYS, HONEY. I am perhaps extremely shallow this episode. Also Kat becomes five times as wonderful the second she's away from Raymond, and I was quite pleased with the Raymond-less-ness of the episode.
The one thing about Joanna's plotline this week that I didn't mind was PENNY KISSING HER. I am disappointed although unsurprised that Penny had some sort of lesbian freakout in the morning and also is still apparently shagging Jamie, and I don't think Joanna could take her out of the Best Friend Box even if Penny ever came to terms with it herself, but. Oh Penny. Honey. I'm not sure I'll date you because I am not a big fan of dating lesbian freakouts, but I will certainly help you through them. <333
Meanwhile Roxie is my favourite thing about this episode. Possibly the show. Maybe the UNIVERSE. Because Roxie -- my god, does this woman actually do anything that makes me want to tear out my hair? I don't think so. She admits to & apologizes for her inconsistency to Mia, and ends the episode as World's Best Mom Under The Circumstances. She tries to reason out her powers, and is the only one who has figured out what their uses might be and made any concerted effort to control them. I even finally understand what she sees in Chad (dooorks, whole family of dooorks, Chad wants to be Professor X and his little brother has DRAGONS and aww) and of course that is just in time for me to be petrified that Chad is going to die.
Next week I will do something like get back to whether or not there is feminism fail and what exactly is up with Darryl! This week is all about my love for Roxie and Kat and my hope that if they follow up on the Penny-kissing-Joanna thing there will not be any sexuality fail to go with.
