Okay, this time Hard Core Logo made me cry at the end. Protip: do not watch just before going to bed, or you will end up laying there staring at the ceiling feeling sad, and not particularly astonishingly the Headstones did not actually work as a cheering-up method. On the other hand this morning I have plans to watch kind of embarrassing amounts of My Life as a Dog, which should do the trick.

The point I'm pretty sure I had before I got sad about HCL is that I am kind of floored that CKR was able to sandwich being Billy in between being Johnny for the surrounding year. Good god. And my other point is that I am endlessly delighted by the massive amounts of love I have for various of his characters, so much so that I really cannot decide who is my favourite. Since it is a weekend and days off mean poll time! I figured this was certainly important enough to take a poll on.

(Ray Kowalski is Sir Not Appearing in This Poll, because I know, and I'd probably choose him too.)

If you ticked that last option, by the way, and then your answer turns out to, say, have anything to do with the time he was a vampire with a mutant Pomeranian, I -- well, I'll probably just giggle. But I figure it is perfectly valid to love someone not in that poll the most, even though I'm pretty sure I covered most of the not-a-sociopath options there, and I'm also pretty sure Leoben doesn't even count.

Now I should probably stop dithering and write more of the massive AU, although I would be equally willing to have hilarious conversations about what would happen if various of CKR's characters met one another. (Like, Newbie and Leoben? Particularly hilarious. Okay, stopping now.)

Hmm, I wonder what the name of the creepy obsessive serial killer guy he played in the latest X-Files movie was. Not that that is my answer. I am abstaining from the poll because you know my answer (like many others') and that is why you left it out. I just, got to thinking of the many and varied things in which CKR has appeared.

Uh, IMDb tells me he was called Janke Dacyshyn, but I think of him as Oh God Please Don't Make CKR Do A Russian Accent And Could He Maybe Not Kill People This Time? I am really looking forward to Gunless now because apparently he is a baddie in that too but at least he'll have scenes with Paul Gross and probably not be a serial killer.

I am tempted to vote in the poll myself, for Duck, because I ADORE Duck and no one has voted for him yet. But it is so horribly difficult to choose! (Do you think there are people who don't love Ray most? There must be. Somewhere.)

I am banking on there being at least a few people out there who've seen CKR in HCL or elsewhere but not seen due South.

That's true! I actually do know a few people who've seen him in Battlestar Galactica and like Leoben on his own merits (although those people also know me and therefore ended up seeing Ray; the general reaction was "wow, he's so YOUNG! and, um, not creepy!" Heh).

HCL is one of those movies I would really have to psych myself up to see again, despite really liking it. Just, emotional headspace, you know? I saw it when it was new and being marketed as a comedy and was pretty much shocked. Heh. Lately I keep wanting to see it (because you keep talking about it!) so I think I'm just going to have to get tough soon & watch it.

But poll: Duck! I love WW so much, that is also on my rewatch list. It was hard to choose between Duck and Billy, though, even though I don't remember the movie so well, the crossover fic is awesome. ;-)

Yeah, HCL is ... I went into it knowing exactly how it ended, which helped massively; I think if it had been presented to me as a comedy I'd have a hard time seeing it again ever. But it is absolutely worth re-watching (multiple times, even; I think I've seen it four times now and every time I notice whole layers of new things) although you probably will have to psych yourself up a bit.

DUCK. Duck was not the first character I'd seen CKR play, but he was the first one I fell in love with and I think he might be secretly my favourite by a very, very slim margin.

I decided to interpret "choose" as "choose which role NEEDED to exist, without which your world would be a sadder, less sparkly place", rather than "choose which character you'd do". If it was supposed to be the latter, I'm changing my vote to Johnny J. ;-)

That's the great thing about "choose," you see, because I would probably check Duck -- he fills me with the most consistent warm fuzzy joy -- but 'character you'd do' is also a perfectly good way to read it, and I am so absolutely with you on Billy being the role that NEEDED to exist. :D

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you also see Billy, and not deeply important that you see Newbie or Johnny, even though both of them are made of wide-eyed slightly nuts adorability.
