VIKINGS
So I had a post to make about ... real life updates and navel-gazing and things? But this is not that post! This post is about how I am HAPPY because [a] this weekend is MUSKRAT JAMBOREE, which means I'll be hanging hopefully around the hotel and trying to have fanpeople meetups, and [b] I ... have watched the first episode and a half of Vikings? and OH WHOOPS I LOVE IT.
Aria: can I yell about Vikings?
Amiel: brilliant. do it
Aria: OKAY
Aria: so ... idek why I love it so much?
Aria: so far all that's happened is Our Hero Ragnar has decided that they should explore! but their earl is meeean and only lets them raid east and Ragnar is like BUT WHAT OF THE WEST
Aria: he and his BFF Floki (who ... even money that this dude is actually Loki, like, Ragnar keeps having visions of Odin, gods CLEARLY EXIST in this universe, and Floki is totally nuts and wears eyeliner and talks to the treeees and is a master shipbuilder) anyway Ragnar and Floki are like LET US BUILD A SHIP THAT CAN CROSS THE OPEN SEA
Amiel: oh my god
Aria: meanwhile Ragnar's wife the shieldmaiden Lagertha is like, hey, I'm home alone, I'll just casually cut up these would-be rapists and then have really hitty sex with Ragnar when he comes home, nbd
Aria: Ragnar thinks killing people is THE BEST PARTY EVER
Aria: everyone cares about honorrrr
Amiel: oh my god, I am so excited for this show
Aria: the scenery is FUCKING SPECTACULAR
Aria: Ragnar's brother Rollo ... may be evil?
Aria: and I haven't even come to the part with the Irish monk!
Aria: I hear tell that Ragnar brings him back home as a slave and is like, hey, you and me and Lagertha should have threesomes

Aria: I'M NOT SAYING THIS SHOW IS PERFECT BUT THIS SHOW IS ... AN EMBARRASSING PORTRAIT OF MY ID
Amiel: IT'S A GREAT ID
Amiel: everything I've heard about this show sounds really fabulous
Aria: I'm pretty sure that objectively it's stupid as fuck
Aria: but everything in me is crying out with joy
SO THAT IS VIKINGS. Probably stay tuned for me caring about it some more? I wouldn't even recommend it to ... anyone not Amiel, probably! But it is full of honorrrr and also keeps on pinging on my various Lewis and Tolkien feelings, and thinking about it has made me really happy all day. OWNING THE TERRIBLE STUPID STUFF I LIKE. :D
