Re: Doctor Who: I AM REALLY EXCITED ABOUT CLARA! I am ... not sure I have ever been this excited about a new companion right off the bat? I mean, I loved Rose and Martha and Donna and Amy all by the end of their first episode, but CLARA OKAY.

Yesss I am pretty thrilled to have my Doctor Who excitement return to me.

CLARA YES. And dreams that outlive their dreamers. And Moffat possibly, just possibly, telling the story I hoped he'd be telling.

What story do you hope Moffat is telling? I mean, I am MASSIVELY intrigued by Clara with her many lives (including the ones nested inside other ones, human/Dalek, barmaid/governess) but I haven't the faintest where he might be going with it! Excited, but clueless to the ways of the Moffat Mind in this case.

I can't quiiite articulate it, but the turning point from "...should I be worried?" to "YES THIS FEELS RIGHT" was when the Doctor uses the memory worm on Simeon and instead of working it sends everything straight to hell. Because occasionally Eleven is way too cavalier about erasing/rewriting not just events but people, which is creepy and sits oddly with Moffat's fixation on memory/perception/identity, so I am SUPER EXCITE that it has started blowing up in the Doctor's face. And that this season/the 50th could well be "Son of the Bride of the Revenge of the Persistence of Memory: Remember Who You Are, You Dumbfuck."

...also I am kind of delighted that when Eleven sulks, he retreats to a cloud and sits above everyone else refusing to interfere and basically being a Time Lord, and I hope the "self-effacing: not actually that simple!" thread will get taken up some more.
