I've had a BSG-characters-reincarnated-in-modern-New-York fic rattling around in my brain for a little while now, and my Cliche Bingo card has this awesome "high school/college AU" square that gives me a good excuse to write crackfic about, say, Lee the law student and Athena and Boomer the troubled identical twins and things like that. The problem is that technically if they are going around being reincarnated they should probably have different names -- but I think that might be confusing/distracting, and while I'm going to give them time-and-place-appropriate last names anyway, I don't know if there should be a first name switch also. It would still be pretty obvious who was who, but again, possibly distracting!

Um, so, I might have bought the Battlestar Galactica miniseries? And it's -all- CKR's fault (and Vintage Stock's for having it used and only $12).

sdkdfs oh gosh I think I might start getting BSG love all over you, then! There is not nearly enough CKR, but mostly the Leoben-centric episodes are sekritly my favourites (and this was even true before I'd seen any due South at all, although he became about a billion times more awesome post-dS-watching) and I love a lot of the other characters too. (It's also fun to rewatch due South after seeing some BSG -- there's a few BSG actors who guest-star in s4.) Um in conclusion YAY BSG.

By the way, since you are so fervent in your desire for a BSG college AU, tell me what you would like out of one! I have the various characters' relationships and the thematic stuff worked out, but I have nothing in the way of actual plot and/or just generally things that happen yet, so tell me your desires!

Other things, hmmmm. I have always been extremely fond of flirting through the means of geekery (e.g. verbal sparring regarding a Political Science/Psych/Physics/Lit/WHATEVER class as foreplay). I AM A WEIRDO, WHAT CAN I SAY. Also, nights of drunken debauchery (FRAT PARTIES WOO), impromptu class skipping to go someplace fun and/or adventurous, and professor and student interaction!

I think you could rename anyone who doesn't seem to have a modern name (Lee, Kara, Karl, Bill, Laura, Sharon are all like, normal names). Maybe all the military types are on a sports or chess team or something and that's how they get nicknames?
