FIC. FINALLY. YES.

This fic, this fucking fic.

I have my credit notes over at the fic proper, but what the hell, this was a labor of love and I think I should talk about these amazing people: Amelia for hand-holding, cheerleading, feeding me lines, hanging around for hours multiple nights in a row to yell about all the Loki feelings -- in short, this fic would not exist without them. Scott for saying smart, necessary things, and for making sure that my love for Loki didn't mean I was too nice to him. Olivia, as always, for forcing my structure to be better and for making the finished thing actually look good. And I can't even keep track of how many of you I additionally threw partial drafts at or wailed at while the fic was eating my soul; you are stars.

But now it is DONE.

Shatter, Thor/Loki, 32,209 words YEAH THAT'S RIGHT. "Loki," Odin says, heavy with disappointment and regret for all he has to raise his voice, "Odinson. I cast you out."

And now I am going to step away from the computer for a bit and read American Gods or something, because this fic is kind of my baby and I am not sure what to do now I have set it free.

HURRAY! As you know, I love this story to pieces, and you should be very proud. Like Loki, I am pretty sure your fic will be okay, even on its own in the wilderness. Um. Possibly that was less reassuring than I intended. BUT ANYWAY. In conclusion: ♥

I have to go be productive right now but I would just like to register my EXTREME EXCITEMENT for reading this fic tonight! <3

BASICALLY this was the most awesome thing ever.

ALSO: if you are anything like me, you're putting down American Gods every five minutes to check replies and comments.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, FIC TIME. I will probably read through it again and will certainly leave a comment, but right now my computer is dying.

P.S. Don't read American Gods. I am doing it right now, and it's just not fucking worth the pain.

I got halfway through American Gods and called it quits.

I am stunned and impressed. I read the whole thing when I was like 17 and didn't know any better, but I am in the middle of rereading it right now, and it looks like I may give up after 40 pages.
lowkey: (Fuck no.)

Many of my
Several of my
At least one of my friends really likes American Gods, and the idea behind the book is really quite interesting. It wasn't my cup of tea, but I recognize that others have differing opinions, so I hope that Aria enjoys it.

I think that's the case with so many Neil Gaiman things! He has really awesome ideas, but they sometimes fail pretty hard in execution. (But yeah, Aria, plz enjoy! Our tastes are usually wildly different, so you may well!)

HAHAHA. Okay, well, mostly I really dislike Neil Gaiman? Like, he's one of those authors who repeats some of the same tropes often enough that it makes me uncomfortable RL. Seriously large volume of older dudes/much younger ladies. And he's got a lot of stuff that feels shocky-for-the-sake-of-shock. But mostly his stuff, and American Gods more than most of it, just feels so cheap. It's just a lot of fucking and references and drama and no real substance. Too much cleverness with nothing behind it. And whenever he's being "gritty," it just feels like a twelve-year-old boy giggling behind his hand.

OHGOD HORRIFYING. D: D: D: I haven't gotten to that part yet on my reread, but I think maybe I would prefer not to. BECAUSE ZOMBIES. D:

lolol it's something my friend [livejournal.com profile] nova_bright said about Charles.

That, combined with your icon, is delightful.

I WILL READ THIS AFTER FINALS.* If I've not commented in a week, I may have died. In which case: please exhume me. With a shovel.

* Did you know? Giving finals may be more work than taking them! Admittedly, it doesn't have the same debilitating effect on your self-worth.

[Lurker here. Got recced to your Doctor Who S4 fic, and have been shamelessly reading everything since.]

This fic, it is wonderful. I may have reread it several times already and bookmarked for future reference. You have such a way with words that I envy greatly. I don't remember much of Erik from the movie, but everyone else, the characterization is perfect, and I loved his character here. I felt bad for him, that he did so much for Loki, and then Loki was just like, 'Haha, I can conjure fire, gotta go now'. Actually, I felt bad for all of them for that. And everything with Darcy, which had me face-clutching and giggling like a madman. And, that's not even most of what I loved about it (the idea of savory ice cream, and clueless-but-trying Thor, and everything not being perfect at the end, and the way you described Loki needing to 'translate' the Bifrost made my inner language/culture geek very, very happy) but that would take a long time to write out.
