SET FIIIIRE TO THE RAAAAIN

1. A DRAFT A DRAFT I FINISHED A FUCKING DRAFT. It is 32,000 goddamn words long. I ... am not quite sure what to do with myself while it is with the betas, but I am fairly sure the answer is "Be a productive member of society," not "Write Sif/Darcy fic."

2. There is apparently a wine that tastes like red velvet cupcakes? I am not at all sure how anyone has managed to create such a thing, but it does exist, and it is delightful. Alas I do not have proper red velvet cupcakes to eat while I drink it, but I am fairly sure I will be able to survive this sad lack.

3. Vid recs!

a. Set Fire to the Rain, a Thor/Loki vid that makes me laugh a lot but also gives me FEEEELINGS, because I am ridiculous. You should watch it because it is the most happy-making thing possible.

b. Along with the rest of my rlist, I am here to tell you to run, not walk, to watch The Price and to read the accompanying meta about manpain. I actually like the meta more than the vid, if only because it makes me think about things in depth rather than just wanting to PUNCH THE SCREEN. But the vid is also excellent, and a bit hilarious at the end.

1. Ooooh, CONGRATULATIONS on finishing the draft! I am a wee bit excited to read it when it's done. Eeee! (also, clearly writing Sif/Darcy is the correct life choice, because it sounds like an amaaaaaazing idea)

3. Omg, yes, both of those vids, and the meta, are all awesome things. I have watched Set Fire to the Rain a possibly ridiculous number of times, and although I haven't done the same with the manpain vid and meta, I have certainly been spending a lot of time thinking about them!

Do not apologize; the story does what the story does, and you write what you want to write! And I am perfectly happy to read Thor/Loki too. :D IT DOES NOT STOP ME BEING EXCITED, is what I am saying!

The thing I found most fascinating about watching The Price is that I found myself getting teary-eyed while watching it, just as I would if I were watching some of those scenes in their original contexts -- even divorced, and put into an extremely meta-y vid like this, I'm still so conditioned to respond to that manpain. Because they're in pain! And I feel sad for them! Even WHILE I am rolling my eyes at the ridiculousness! Yeah, so that was disconcerting to discover.

The more I am reminded of everything mythology chooses to be, the more I am cool with Thor/Loki. I mean. Loki was happy to have sex with a horse, is what I'm saying, and then give birth to that horse's (eight-legged) kid. After that, incest? Something I can totally see him being on board with! Especially since the aesir are all of how many generations old? Yeah, I'm pretty sure just about anything sexual ends up relatively incestuous.

Oh, I wanted to shake the screen AT THE SAME TIME that I was getting teary-eyed! But then I am a person who cries pretty easily, and at times that do not entirely merit that much of an emotional reaction, and this tendency is something that I'm pretty sure is worse since I had that concussion. So that's probably a large part of it. But still! Even though it was an involuntary bodily reaction, that involuntary bodily reaction was still obviously affected by the pathos of the manpain. *sigh*

OH HAY IT'S ME AGAIN, HOW'S THINGS

I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO WRITE ACTUAL THOUGHTS IN THE MORNING

BUT I HAVE SOME YELLS THAT I NEED TO GET OUT BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP

His eyes. This is a completely new level of puppy-dog eyes. Like. Loki could make million begging on the streets just by STARING AT PEOPLE. I am kind of confused as to how he actualy grew up human-looking? (Or, um, norse god-looking?) when he's actually Laufey's child. Or did I miss something and he's actually some kind of half-breed? Or did Odin just use speshul magik to make him prettier? (If so, I do not disapprove!)

I don't even KNOW how I feel about the ending. Because, you know, I was hoping that this would be the one time in all of ever where the weird skinny brainy one would come out on top of, or at least equal with, the brawny heroic one. Alas, it was not to be.

Hug count:
Loki: 1
Thor: Greater than 1

SO UNFAIR.

...no Loki icon yet, maybe tomorrow.

OMG.

OKAY, YOU KNOW IT IS SLASHY WHEN I CAN SEE THE SLASH ON FIRST GLANCE. AND THIS IS THE FIRST ANYTHING I HAVE SEEN OF THOR THE MOVIE.

OBVIOUSLY THIS ENTIRE MOVIE IS ABOUT THE TRAGIC LOVE BETWEEN TWO ADOPTED BROTHERS WHO HAVE A TRULY HORRIBLE FATHER, AND ONE OF THEM DESPERATELY WANTS THE APPROVAL OF THE OTHER AND WANTS TO IMPRESS HIS FATHER AND HIS FAMILY AND HE CAAAAAAN'T AND EVERYONE LOVES HIS BIG BLOND ATHLETIC BRO BETTER THAN ANYTHING, AND I WANT TO SLAP HALF OF ASGARD NOW.

Also, Loki clearly falls into the Methos category of "skinny dark-haired guys with brains and snark who are anything but heroes." AND IF I HAD A KINK, THAT WOULD BE IT.

P.S. This means that I have seen the Thor/Loki vid and want more. Also, why have I not seen any Loki icons?
