Warning: I am not actually awake, so this post is incoherent.
WHAT WHAT WAS THAT EVEN. I actually follow all the Alex-music box-German sub bits now, which is exciting, and I guess Adler had Fowler in his pocket or something and was using him as the Neal-and-Kate go-between? idk idk I'd have to rewatch those bits. Anyway the arc plot kindasorta makes as much sense as it ever does, except now Neal MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE FORGED ART that WAS OR WAS NOT IN THE U-BOAT THE WHOLE TIME and then at the end someone GIVES HIM THE LOCATION OF ALL THE NOT-BLOWN-UP TREASURE. idek what is even happening at this point because I am too busy being excited at Neal's look of PURE LUSTFUL DELIGHT when he beholds the rescued treasure, and also I am too busy being excited that they have manufactured EXCITING NEW TRUST ISSUES for Neal and Peter although I do hope that it is a progression rather than a reboot.
I thought I was going to HATE everything that happened after Neal and Alex gave each other a yay-thanks-for-helping-me-survive kiss, but no, Alex and Sara proceeded to briefly pass the Bechdel test and then El and Peter used their relationship-fu to make Neal and Sara act like adults! I guess I should not be surprised, because White Collar is disconcertingly good at doing healthy romantic relationships! And I am feeling a lot less like Neal/Sara will be substitution all over the place and Neal failing to grow up, so I am pretty on board with this!
At this point -- man, at this point though I have this ridiculous elaborate theory for what is going on with the Neal/Peter/El. How much do I love that the episode sort of paused in the middle for them to have a dinner-and-relationships interlude? And that Peter, after flaking on this for a couple of weeks, remembered that Neal likes direct orders? But seriously, I think roundabouts Burke's Seven the three of them sat down and had a Relationship Talk that resulted in all three of them acknowledging that they were into each other, but that Peter can't in good conscience become sexually involved with Neal while Neal's his CI, and Neal and El agreed to hold off too. And since then Neal has been alternately flirting and pining, and eventually he wanted what they had so much that he went for Sara instead, but now Peter and El are being excellent about it and helping him have something functional with Sara. Since I really like Sara and I think I'm down with the Neal/Sara thing, my new conclusion is that if she's going to stick it out, she'll have to be okay with Neal also sleeping with Peter and El. But that's fine! El will totes make her feel included, though I don't mean in the Sara/El way. I think I just mean that I have decided El is the Poly Acceptance Fairy or something.
