and here come the waves
A question: what is the general protocol for the original things that are written for NaNoWriMo? Do we hoard them jealously in the faint hope that we may one day publish them? Do we post them proudly for the world to see? I mean, I am not even properly signed up for NaNo because I am in the hoarding camp, but I will probably be throwing my novel at people in emails, and I am at least in theory interested in seeing other people's work too. I ... realize that if there was a question, I have in fact lost it in the shuffle. Uh, basically, what is the kosher writing distribution here?

› favorite character: Is it cheating to say "the Doctor" and not choose just one Doctor? I just. I adore him, in all iterations.
› least favorite character: I feel a bit awful saying this, but Peri. Apparently she is better in audios than she is the actual show? But good god, she nearly makes my ears bleed.
› prettiest character: MARTHA JONES. My huge crush on Martha, let me show you it. Amy comes in a very close second.
› character I wanna marry: Probably Martha again! I would also marry the hell out of Sarah Jane, though.
› favorite pairing: Doctor/Master, obviously. :D
› favorite episode: Old school, probably The Five Doctors, which is pure comfort crack. New series, probably still Empty Child/Doctor Dances, although I have a huge weakness for Utopia/Sound of Drums too.
› unpopular opinion: I LOVE JO GRANT. I think she is quite clever and I would watch her and Three fight aliens for hours! Haters to the left.

› favorite character: THOMAS. I think I fell madly in love with him around the time when he would rather die than not let Janet make her own choices about her body.
› least favorite character: ...I liked all the principles! Maybe Peg? I think more could've been done with Peg, anyway.
› prettiest character: In my head, Robin Armin is prettiest.
› character I wanna marry: Thomas again! See above for reasons why.
› favorite pairing: Well, Thomas/Janet, obviously. I am also strangely invested in Robin/Molly working out, though.
› favorite episode: This meme is designed for TV shows! I guess in terms of episodes as 'events that happen in the book' I am a very big fan of the section where they put on Revenger's Tragedy!
› unpopular opinion: I have no idea how popular this opinion is, but I kind of loathe the way most of the other principle characters treated Tina. People can be interesting without being pretentious dicks! And I say this as someone who is kind of a pretentious dick. Sigh.

› favorite character: God, I love EVERYONE. I think Peter wins by the slimmest of margins.
› least favorite character: KATE. God, do something with her besides fridging!
› prettiest character: I think it is a clear and glorious tie between Neal and Elizabeth.
› character I wanna marry: Peter! And El! Because they come as a package deal.
› favorite pairing: Peter/Neal/Elizabeth, as you do. I also have a soft spot in my heart for June/Mozzie, though.
› favorite episode: Oh, probably Hard Sell, the one where Neal nearly suffocates, and he and Peter start actually communicating. I am in love with most of s2 also, though.
› unpopular opinion: I don't know if I have any unpopular opinions! I want Kate to be alive and evil, though? That is an opinion.

› favorite character: Probably a tie between Will and Merriman. I love me some Old Ones. Oh, but I also adore Barney and John Rowlands.
› least favorite character: Hmm. Probably the Seem Nice And Cozy But Are Secretly Evil women. That, or I just feel awful for poor John Rowlands.
› prettiest character: My childhood crush on Bran nominates him for this distinction!
› character I wanna marry: Hilariously enough, I imagine that Barney would be a lovely spouse once he's all grown up.
› favorite pairing: Will/Bran! I never claimed to be original here. :)
› favorite episode: Revising this to 'favorite book' I think it is probably The Grey King.
› unpopular opinion: I do not know if there are unpopular opinions! Here is a very popular one: the ending was alarming, and the kids need to get their memories back.

You like Discworld, right? Discworld. Or Good Omens, whichever is easier.
no subject
And now, two for the price of one!
Discworld:
› favorite character: It is an amazing three-way tie between Sam Vimes, Granny Weatherwax, and Death! I love them all with great passion.
› least favorite character: Oof. I usually just block my least favorites from my mind and don't read their books again. Of the characters I remember well, I suppose Rincewind? I'm always a little bitter with him for not being Arthur Dent. Oh, and Carrot! Carrot disturbs me deeply.
› prettiest character: Well, in my head Susan is very attractive? And Angua! Vetinari is probably up for this too, although I wouldn't call him pretty to his face. Actually, the delightful thing about Discworld is that physical attractiveness is not one of the more memorable salient character traits.
› character I wanna marry: Oh, Lady Sybil, hands down.
› favorite pairing: Er, I don't ... what? Shipping is not one of the salient points of Discworld either! I am very invested in Sybil/Vimes, though, and I guess I ship Polly/Maladict a fair amount. Also, I am still waiting for the day when the world delivers me the miracle of believable Vimes/Vetinari that is also good to Sybil.
› favorite episode: I'll assume that in this case episode means 'book;' I think the two I reread the most and are my biggest comfort reads are Reaper Man and The Fifth Elephant, although Lords and Ladies, Monstrous Regiment, and Night Watch get a lot of rereads and love too.
› unpopular opinion: Are -- are there unpopular Discworld opinions? I don't know them.
Good Omens:
› favorite character: Crowley! Oh Crowley, my love.
› least favorite character: I am searching my soul for a single thing about Good Omens that I do not like. Nope, I got nothin'.
› prettiest character: Well, obviously the answer is Crowley again.
› character I wanna marry: Honestly, I'd go for Anathema. She's pretty awesome and she'd be sensible at me when I needed it.
› favorite pairing: Aziraphale/Crowley, as you do.
› favorite episode: In terms of episodes as 'events that happen in the book' my very favorite is Aziraphale and Crowley's drunken dolphin conversation.
› unpopular opinion: I, um, hmm. I don't think any of the Them end up together when they're grown up?
no subject
Also, there are actually some people who loathe Sybil because she interferes with Vetinari/Vimes. (Some people are silly, because Sybil is AWESOME.)
no subject
Obviously, I have thought about this too much. :)
Sigh. I am unsurprised to hear that about Sybil. And I feel like there are plenty of perfectly good ways to work Sybil's consent and, nay, even plotting with Vetinari into a Vimes/Vetinari fic. Ah well.

Characters that have that kind of reality-bending and charisma and choose personal over important creep me out so much more. And always make me want to shout AUGH AUGH NO STEP AWAY AND THINK at them. It's understandable and human to pick personal! But I think I always identify with the people hypothetically being run roughshod over simply because I don't happen to be the guy the Hero Type likes, which is a much worse reason to me than a moral principle. Even if it's a moral principle I strongly disagree with, I'll at least grant that from the Hero Type's perspective it's a good reason.
(I haven't seen enough of Due South to tell where Fraser would fall on that continuum for me. I keep intending to! Vaguely. And then I wander off into shoujo anime again or something.)
The Sarah Connor icon is for irony, I think. *laughing* Because I adore her to bits, and she is kind of a poster child for Personal AND Important (But Especially Personal).

And: Star Trek!

Star Trek!
› favorite character: Spock! ALL SPOCKS.
› least favorite character: Does fast-forwarding with extreme prejudice whenever Nurse Chapel is onscreen count as her being my least favorite? I really hope the reboot does something good with her next film.
› prettiest character: Uhura! ALL UHURAS.
› character I wanna marry: Let's be honest, Uhura again. She is the only sane one on the whole damn ship.
› favorite pairing: I have watched so much TOS that my kneejerk response is Kirk/Spock, although McCoy can come too. For the reboot, though, it becomes Spock/Uhura, but Kirk can come too. OT3s for all!
› favorite episode: Oh god, I love so many! I think The Naked Time wins, though.
› unpopular opinion: In reboot, I just want Kirk and McCoy to be friends! If you ship them, really, more power to you, that's awesome, but I just want them to be BFFs.

You can do whatever you want with your writing, the same as you would with your fanfic. It's yours, after all.
Fandom: Canadian Six Degrees! ALL OF IT. :D

ALL of C6D? Ahaha, okay.
› favorite character: EVERYONE PAUL GROSS PLAYS. No, that's a lie, mostly just Fraser and Geoffrey. Both Ray Kowalski and Duck are also very close to my heart. Oh, and Kate from Slings & Arrows! And EVERYONE MOLLY PARKER PLAYS, but mostly Hope. Oh, and Darren Nichols.
› least favorite character: Um. Probably Sophie from s3 Slings & Arrows. Sorry, Sarah Polley! Also, I am still mildly bitter at Lennox from Men With Brooms for not being played by CKR.
› prettiest character: Let's be honest here, it's Billy Tallent. Sorry, Fraser.
› character I wanna marry: Wow. I'm actually hard-pressed to think of anyone? Despite all evidence to the contrary I remain kind of convinced that being married to Ray Kowalski would be great, though.
› favorite pairing: Fraser/Rays!
› favorite episode: ALL OF SLINGS & ARROWS. I'm serious here.
› unpopular opinion: I don't know if I have any!

Now I just write for me and won't do it officially.
And I give you Smallville ;)

Smallville!
› favorite character: LEX! In case anyone didn't know. Chloe and Lionel are both close seconds, though.
› least favorite character: LANA. I'm so sorry, Lana. I wish anyone had written you even mildly competently.
› prettiest character: But it's a whole town full of pretty people! I think Lex wins the prettiness contest, though, just for being so damn attractive while also bald.
› character I wanna marry: Chloe, maybe? She's the only one who's remotely sane and stable enough. I guess Martha Kent also fits that bill.
› favorite pairing: Clark/Lex! I'm sure we're all astonished.
› favorite episode: Shattered/Asylum! It is very closely tied with both Nemesis and Fracture, though, if only because they are excellent episodes in fairly awful seasons. Oh, and Heat is my comfort crack episode.
› unpopular opinion: I really, really hate Jonathan Kent. Actually, I don't know if that's an unpopular opinion, but I'm under the impression that wanting to clock the hero's dad every time he's onscreen is not the correct reaction.

› least favorite character: Sophie in s3. I don't know why, she just rubbed me the wrong way.
› prettiest character: Probably Kate! To this day I adore Rachel McAdams purely because I keep forgetting she's not actually Kate.
› character I wanna marry: Probably Anna! Anna would be an excellent spouse.
› favorite pairing: Hmm. I am extremely invested in Geoffrey/Ellen! I am even more invested, though, in Oliver/his epic unrequited Geoffrey love. That is actually the thing that I ship.
› favorite episode: I can't. I can't even pick a favorite season. It's all fucking incredible.
› unpopular opinion: I, um. Hm. I don't think I have any!

Re: NaNovel distribution, I'm a big fan of locked journals, because it allows for dialogue in the comments section without the added pressure of the email sitting in one's inbox. However you decide to do it, though, count me among the interested!

And HP is okay, it is a good trick! :D
› favorite character: Deep in my soul, the answer is Neville Longbottom. I have a soft spot the size of a small country for Sirius, though.
› least favorite character: Molly Weasley. I know, I KNOW I am an awful person. I just couldn't stand her for the last three books.
› prettiest character: Pre-Azkaban Sirius, perhaps? Well, and Narcissa. ALL THE BLACKS. :D
› character I wanna marry:
ALL THE BLACKSProbably Neville again!› favorite pairing: Remus/Sirius! I too am a one-trick pony. I shipped Ron/Hermione pretty hard back in the day too.
› favorite episode: I will take this to mean 'book' and unsurprisingly Prisoner of Azkaban wins hands-down.
› unpopular opinion: Egads, HP fandom is so big that SOMEONE is going to agree with me. So instead let's just have a strong opinion, which is that I HATE HATE HATE what was done with poor Remus and Tonks in the last two books.
no subject
I agree with your unpopular opinion, and what's more, I hate that disliking the execution of Lupin/Tonks is taken as evidence that one is a "delusional puppyshipper." Because (A) lol no, logic fail and (B) the execution was terrible and squicky. >:O ...Sorry about that, apparently I have Feelings About This Matter.
no subject

YES THIS. My shipping of Sirius and Remus is entirely separate from how hugely uncomfortable I am with Remus/Tonks! It's like ... I also shipped Harry/Ginny? And then Harry/Ginny actually happened, and I stopped. Bah.

› favorite character: God, I love everyone. Deep in my heart though it is still and will always be Nita.
› least favorite character: Mm, probably the Balor avatar of the Lone Power. BE SEXY MOAR, LONE ONE.
› prettiest character: I assume this honor goes to Roshaun! I imagine Carmela is pretty hot too, though.
› character I wanna marry: Nita! Or Kit! Or both! Or Tom and Carl! Look, this is a series full of competent people that I love; I would marry a lot of them.
› favorite pairing: Tom/Carl is the fuzzy pairing of my heart, but I have been recently turned to the Kit/Nita side. I would also be in favor of Dairine/Roshaun when they are older, assuming those crazy kids can work it out.
› favorite episode: I will take this to mean favorite book, and ... god, I love them all a lot, but my comfort read is still High Wizardry.
› unpopular opinion: I ... don't know? I don't think the fandom argues much about things.

But for selfish reasons, I think I'll lie to you and say that THE CORRECT PLACE FOR YOU NA-NOVEL IS THE INTERNET!

› favorite character: LUCY. Edmund is a close second, but I have adored Lucy for nearly as long as I've been alive.
› least favorite character: Am I allowed to say "most of the cast of the Last Battle?" Because that is my answer.
› prettiest character: ARAVIS. Don't argue, she's my hot Calorman girlfriend.
› character I wanna marry: Honestly, probably Edmund all grown up.
› favorite pairing: My mind sort of borks when asked to ship Narnian characters. The Prince Caspian film did make me ship Peter/Caspian quite a bit?
› favorite episode: I am taking "episode" to be "book," and I am fairly sure the answer is Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
› unpopular opinion: I do not know if this is unpopular, but OH MY GOD I HATE THE LAST BATTLE.
no subject
Voyage of the Dawn Treader is my favorite too.
I think my least favorite character is Shift the Ape from The Last Battle. Which is the one book that I really really hate, because OMG, C.S. LEWIS, MUSLIMS ARE NOT DEMON WORSHIPERS, AND EVICTING SUSAN WAS NOT COOL, AND KILLING OFF YOUR HEROES AND SENDING THEM TO HEAVEN IS NOT AN UP ENDING! (Well, it is more up than sending them to Hell...but really!)
Also, I need a Narnia icon. Preferably with Lucy or Aravis.

› favorite character: A lot of the time I want to say Ray Kowalski, because he's so damn fun to write, but really the answer is Fraser. Oh Fraser. <3
› least favorite character: Louis. I could never get up the energy to like him at all.
› prettiest character: Fraser again! Thatcher and Frannie are both gorgeous, though.
› character I wanna marry: I'm starting to think I should just write "Fraser" as the answer to every single question. :D
› favorite pairing: Fraser/Rays! Pick a Ray, any Ray, although if Kowalski is left out I sadface, whereas if either Fraser or Vecchio are left out I assume they are still functional human beings. Heh.
› favorite episode: Augh, so many! A random selection: Hawk and a Handsaw, Victoria's Secret, We Are the Eggmen, All the Queen's Horses, Red White or Blue, Eclipse, Asylum, Mountie on the Bounty, A Likely Story, and Ladies Man. I KNEW ALL THOSE FROM MEMORY. Something may be wrong with me.
› unpopular opinion: Er. I don't think I have any? I am so bad at having unpopular opinions!

BY WHICH I MEAN: BATMAN.
(And/or DC Comics if it isn't broad enough.)
no subject
Haha, Batman is broad enough! But my knowledge of Batman is kind of ... all over the place.
› favorite character: Deep in my soul it is probably Alfred. On the other hand: BATMAN.
› least favorite character: Man, I -- am I allowed to have my answer be "The shit they did to Rachel Dawes in TDK"?
› prettiest character: My learnings, by which I mean a quick googlesearch for a sampling of images, tell me that the answer "Barbara Gordon" is correct and awesome.
› character I wanna marry: Jfc, would I want to marry anyone who lives in Gotham? That sounds like a nightmare. I bet Jim Gordon would be awesome, though.
› favorite pairing: IDK! Scott has been lobbying Batman/Robins at me hard enough that I am tempted to say that, but I do not think I have enough data at this point. Oh wait! I do have some data! It is Justice League data and it tells me BATMAN/SUPERMAN. BECAUSE THEY ARE MARRIED. I think Lex can come too.
› favorite episode: I know Batman Begins is not an episode! But I really love it. Oh also there was a great Superman Animated Series episode that had Batman in? That is when I discovered they were married. I liked that quite a lot!
› unpopular opinion: THE DARK KNIGHT WASN'T VERY GOOD. YEAH THAT'S RIGHT. ACTUALLY IT KIND OF SUCKED AND NEEDED MORE BATMAN AND FEWER OBVIOUS MONOLOGUES AND NO EVIL RENEE MONTOYA KNOCKOFF AND LESS FRIDGING AND TO NOT KILL TWO-FACE. FUCK YOU, NOLAN.

› favorite character: EVERYONE?? My inner fifteen-year-old lobbies for Zuko, my inner imprinted-on-a-character-instantly votes Katara, and I think deep in my soul the answer might be TOPH & IROH, WHO DESERVE CAPSLOCK FOR THEIR AWESOME. And then I feel awful that I didn't say EVERYONE.
› least favorite character: King Bumi. He alarms meeeee.
› prettiest character: Uh. Azula, probs?
› character I wanna marry: IROH. Or maybe Sokka.
› favorite pairing: Mai/Zuko! Yeah that's right. I DON'T HATE YOU TOO.
› favorite episode: I ... am trying to actually divide this show into individual episodes in my head instead of just one giant punch of awesome, and I can't actually do it.
› unpopular opinion: I don't rly care about Admiral Zhao? I mean, he's fine! I just didn't spend a lot of time paying attention to him, even if he is Jason Isaacs.

ooh, no, Black Books!
