I had a great day out yesterday! Although by 'out' I mostly mean 'in movie theatres with a break for dinner.'
First I saw How to Train Your Dragon, which I had little interest in seeing but went to spend time with my friends; I ended up pleasantly surprised! The dragons were damn cute; the protagonist really grew on me; the animation was gorgeous; I became genuinely anxious and invested in the plot; and, as a cherry on the awesomecake, near the beginning of the film
sasha_feather leaned over and whispered something along the lines of "Does the main character's difference from the rest of his village seem like a metaphor for gayness to you?" which, yes, it did, and meant that in a later scene where the protagonist's dad asks if he's keeping secrets, Sasha and I were unsuccessfully trying not to howl with delighted laughter. We're in ur kids movies, queering ur text!
In the evening
themeletor and I went to Can't Stop the Serenity. That too was surprisingly fun! We were late, and therefore missed the first two acts of Dr Horrible, which meant we were just in time to watch starting at the place I usually stop watching. In fact, I'd only seen Act III and Serenity once each, so it was an interesting refresher. Knowing what was coming in Serenity, this time I was able to sort of re-envision it as ... probably the second half of hypothetical third season? That seems about right in terms of plot arc and timing of character death. I am so damn sad Firefly couldn't have kept being a show. (On the other hand, though, having seen How Much Is That Geisha In The Window -- which cannot be unseen, nor should it be -- plus having mainlined the Avatar TV show over the past week ... Man, where the fuck were the missing Asians, guys? Oh Firefly, what mixed feelings I have about you.)
Completely unrelatedly, a meme I stole from
icepixie: Those of us who don't participate in the annual Remix challenge -- and, hell, those of us who do -- sometimes wonder which one of our fics someone might remix, and if so, what they might do with it.
So, guys, which would you pick? Here's my fic. If you also respond with a link to your fic (or post this in your journal), then I'll tell you which of yours I'd remix and how.

Iiiiii will do this meme perhaps later tonight, so as not to post two entries within an hour of each other. *G*
AVATAR AVATAR AVATAR OMG IS IT NOT THE MOST LOVE? IS IT NOT LIKE A WARM FUZZY BLANKET FOR YOUR SOUL? I want to rewatch now.

IT IS SUCH A WARM FUZZY BLANKET FOR MY SOUL. I LOVE EVERYOOOONE. (I should probably do an Avatar post soon, now that I have finished! Then we can all scream at each other about how great it is.)

Turnabout being fair play, here's my AO3 page. (And I think, having done this twice now, I probably ought to go post the meme in my own journal....)

I am curious about what you mean by an erasure, though? You said it in a way that tells me you have something specific in mind, but I have no idea what it would be.

Holy crap yes! And, okay, not like I expect you to actually do it, but if you did do an erasure of the naming of things, next time I see you I will bring COOKIES. Or ... pretty much whatever you want, in fact.

(Did you know that you only used the word "master" twice, both in like the first page, and the word control only about six times? Baffling.)

(I am a bit surprised at how seldom the word control is used, but the total underuse of the word master was deliberate, yeah.)

I am sad that this is DW and so I don't have my How To Train Your Dragon icon uploaded to wave at you. Get the soundtrack! The soundtrack is magic!

I think that I'd try a remix of Nor Love So Sweet from Susan's point of view.
P.S.
Here are my fic lists:
