and then it got good again
...And now I'm sad again that they're canceling Eastwick. I'm still itchy and uncomfortable about Joanna's plotline from the previous episode -- apparently getting your shitty boss to give you all the money in his wallet has exactly the same weight of sketchy morality as raping someone! -- but at least they took a half-second to acknowledge that maybe it was Not Okay. Joanna still drives me up the wall (and Max perhaps deserves someone who will see his self-aware smugness and raise some snarky banter; I am not volunteering because I think I'd want to punch him if he were real, but I'm super fond of his fictional self) but by the end of the episode I'd at least mostly stopped wishing that she would please get off my screen.
Things that were AWESOME:
+ The conversation in the bar wherein the three women actually admit that they have these powers. I love that Joanna thinks it's TOTALLY SWEET and Kat meanwhile is all DANGERS & CONSEQUENCES and Roxie thinks both! But that is because Roxie has been making her powers useful for the whole damn season.
+ The follow-up wherein all three of them are completely epic and save Mia. It is not actually unusual for me to talk to the TV, but I still think it's kind of great that I told it, variously, "Joanna, use your telekinesis!" and "Kat, heal her!" Win, ladies.
+ ELEANOR & BUN TASERING JAMIE. I ... really love Eleanor & Bun. Hugely. I am also pleased to hear that the third of their coven (Gloria? I may be remembering the name wrong) was Jamie's mother, because that is much less soap-opera-esque than Roxie's earlier surmise re: Bun.
+ Darryl's tightly controlled terror for Greta. (Are there actually situations where I don't want to give Paul Gross a hug? Well, yes: situations like when Darryl is strangling Bun in the cemetery without turning off his porn voice first. Hi, that was upsetting.) But mostly I love that he knows so many things about Greta, and was genuinely frightened for her; and perhaps relatedly ...
+ Roxie is the one who has to kill Darryl?? THEY ARE NOT GOING TO GET TO THE END OF THIS PLOTLINE, ARE THEY. I am kind of in agonies. Maybe the idea is that Darryl is only vulnerable to the people he genuinely cares about? Which is why Eleanor was able to get him last time, but not now? I have no idea, but it was the first theory that came to mind.
In conclusion, I am Very Intrigued by the main plot arc, I'm ... really not sure what Roxie's mother actually added to the story this week, Joanna made me cringe less although I'm still uncomfortable in the same room as her, and next week doesn't look nearly as promising as this week turned out to be. At this point I just really want them to do as much plot (& women bonding, PLEASE KEEP THAT UP) as possible before they run out of show.

Eleanor and Bun are AWESOME. Although now I'm a little confused about Jamie's background. Did Bun say 'we know you tried to kill your father'? Does that mean Darryl/Sebastian is Jamie's father?
On to last night's episode!
