warning: this post is useless
I just made the accidental discovery that I actually have the first two seasons of Stargate Atlantis on DVD. (I did buy s1! And s2 was given by a friend! But it was ages ago and went right out of my head.)
My point here is that I have about a billionty due South fics to write and I'm about to return to school and run out of time to do anything non-academic, but: Canadians! some guy with a gun and emotional inarticulation and funny hair! wacky hijinks! IN SPACE! Despite the fact that the show was generally rubbish unless it was about Rodney being trapped underwater or dealing with his sister or nearly ascending or communing with whales or, y'know, all those other things Rodney does, and despite the fact that I used SGA fic as a gateway into dS fandom and that doing it in reverse would probably be a trainwreck of me never sleeping again from fic overload, I am ... deeply tempted.
I need to just write more of the stuff I'm already working on and not give myself any extra fannish stuff. Otherwise Fraser and RayK will end up in Atlantis (is it just an American military presence? if so, Fraser is civilian crew and does diplomatic missions in a Teyla-esque capacity and wears a red shirt akin to Elizabeth's) and then my brain would explode. Meanwhile Ronon and Dief become friends. I MEAN NO ARGH.
Possibly I will just panic and watch Hard Core Logo again only this time I know I will cry at the end. I want to write the massive s2 AU. I want to write the massive s2 AU.

Also: okay, this means Fraser does not wear the red shirt but he can still diplomatic stuff. While wearing one of the military uniforms with a little Canadian flaaaag! OhgodIhateyou. XD

Ronon would love Dief! And Dief would be all "ILU Fraser but finally, someone gets it." They would despair of Fraser and John together. And Rodney and Ray would give everyone headaches and Rodney would be astonished that he didn't think of coffee and M&Ms first and Ray would be like "OH GOD, CANADIANS IN SPACE. And aliens. CANADIANS EVERYWHERE!"
*cough* I mean. Don't do that. That is a terrible idea.

Also Rodney and Ray would not get along right away, because Ray would obviously not understand the first thing about ZPMs and isn't even in Mensa and conversant knowledge of Batman alone can't sustain a relationship, you know, so mostly Ray hangs out with John (AND THEN IT BECOMES ONE GIANT CROSSOVER GOLFING JOKE, except that Ray might be kind of bored with golf, sorry, CKR) but then Ray would find out some secret way to get all the contraband M&Ms or Canadian Smarties or whatever, and he and Rodney would become instant best friends.
Meanwhile I think actually Fraser and Teyla would be best friends, because they're beautiful people who would, in fact, just treat each other like people, and have calm and measured conversations about the diversity of the Pegasus Galaxy, and they'd have sparring sessions together, and it would be kind of awesome.
But luckily since I'm writing this all down here I don't have to write it for real! Right?

OMG Fraser and Teyla would be the most adorable BFFs ever! Fraser would love Teyla's Athosian morning tea and would carve small animals out of wood from the mainland and they'd go hiking together and Teyla would think that the Territories sounded a lot like home. Fraser would have an Inuit story for every occasion even in Pegasus. The Athosian kids would adore him and all want to be just like him. Especially Jinto.
Dude, this thing is fully realised in my head. For-real writing is almost superfluous. Mostly I just want to see it happen. *g*
(Also, RAY IN A PUDDLEJUMPER. Just sayin'.)

*chokes* YES. Meanwhile Fraser would be earnestly doing his best to be subtle about getting John and Rodney to perhaps talk to one another and work out this tension thing they have going on (because the irony would also be completely lost on him) and ... I don't know how this one goes but then he hies off for another hike on the mainland with Teyla and D'AWW.
RAY IN A PUDDLEJUMPER. OHHHH MY GOD. You cannot see the size of my grin, but it is huge. RAY. PUDDLEJUMPER. I'm starting to suspect that having him and John in the same fic is ... kind of superfluous.

(If it doesn't load right, let me know? I actually don't have Word on my computer, just Works, so I have to "save as" things into Work files. I don't know how they turn out in the translation.)
