aria: ([due south] things he's doin' to me)

warning: this post is useless

I just made the accidental discovery that I actually have the first two seasons of Stargate Atlantis on DVD. (I did buy s1! And s2 was given by a friend! But it was ages ago and went right out of my head.)

My point here is that I have about a billionty due South fics to write and I'm about to return to school and run out of time to do anything non-academic, but: Canadians! some guy with a gun and emotional inarticulation and funny hair! wacky hijinks! IN SPACE! Despite the fact that the show was generally rubbish unless it was about Rodney being trapped underwater or dealing with his sister or nearly ascending or communing with whales or, y'know, all those other things Rodney does, and despite the fact that I used SGA fic as a gateway into dS fandom and that doing it in reverse would probably be a trainwreck of me never sleeping again from fic overload, I am ... deeply tempted.

I need to just write more of the stuff I'm already working on and not give myself any extra fannish stuff. Otherwise Fraser and RayK will end up in Atlantis (is it just an American military presence? if so, Fraser is civilian crew and does diplomatic missions in a Teyla-esque capacity and wears a red shirt akin to Elizabeth's) and then my brain would explode. Meanwhile Ronon and Dief become friends. I MEAN NO ARGH.

Possibly I will just panic and watch Hard Core Logo again only this time I know I will cry at the end. I want to write the massive s2 AU. I want to write the massive s2 AU.

It is an international expedition!

I am totally not enabling. NOT AT ALL.

It's better when watched with people! We'll almost certainly be around. I think I read or heard a fic once about Chuck (gate operator) secretly being a mountie.

The more fan girls in my living room, the more SGA discs I can get through. Plus now I've read enough SGA fic to actually care about the canon details which dribble out between the writers who -- it seems this is a firm consensus -- we love to hate.

Put the SGA down and step away. We NEED those fics!:D

Oh God, I so want to see John Sheppard and Benton Fraser encounter each other. There wouldn't be enough bemusement in the world to supply both of them.

Ronon would love Dief! And Dief would be all "ILU Fraser but finally, someone gets it." They would despair of Fraser and John together. And Rodney and Ray would give everyone headaches and Rodney would be astonished that he didn't think of coffee and M&Ms first and Ray would be like "OH GOD, CANADIANS IN SPACE. And aliens. CANADIANS EVERYWHERE!"

*cough* I mean. Don't do that. That is a terrible idea.

Ahaha, yes, Rodney wouldn't understand how some annoying American with a funny accent and silly hair could possibly be all that smart or useful (and the irony would be completely lost) but Ray and John would bond and talk about shooting things and, you know, guy stuff. And Ray would rib John about having a thing for Rodney and suddenly find the joke less funny when John made it about him and Fraser, and then they'd have to reaffirm their manhood with a game of Grand Theft Auto or something.

OMG Fraser and Teyla would be the most adorable BFFs ever! Fraser would love Teyla's Athosian morning tea and would carve small animals out of wood from the mainland and they'd go hiking together and Teyla would think that the Territories sounded a lot like home. Fraser would have an Inuit story for every occasion even in Pegasus. The Athosian kids would adore him and all want to be just like him. Especially Jinto.

Dude, this thing is fully realised in my head. For-real writing is almost superfluous. Mostly I just want to see it happen. *g*

(Also, RAY IN A PUDDLEJUMPER. Just sayin'.)

I actually did this comparison on Excel of Fraser-RayK and Sheppard-Rodney some time ago. Because I'm that pathetic. *facepalms*

IF YOU INSIST. BUT AAAH IT PROBABLY SUCKS.

(If it doesn't load right, let me know? I actually don't have Word on my computer, just Works, so I have to "save as" things into Work files. I don't know how they turn out in the translation.)

DON'T TEMPT ME WITH THE OT4. Now I'm sitting here thinking about how they could have meet at different times in different situations, and then thinking about all four of them at Atlantis and how Fraser would so have the ATA gene and Ray would be jealous because he SO wants to fly a puddlejumper and it's not fair how Fraser (who doesn't know how the fly the thing with justice, god) gets to.

That's what the gene therapy is for! Then he can go flying all over the place while Fraser is in the passenger seat going, "Ray. Ray. Ray. Ray!"

Doooooo iiiiiit. And I have NO IDEA what this is. ALL YOU FAULT, ARIA.
