YES. I mean, I enjoy Loki a lot more when he is being an awful little shit in Avengers than when he is emoing all over the place in Thor, but the entire reason his attention-seeking world-domination mayhem is compelling is that he is so transparently unfit for it. Well, for world domination I mean, obviously mayhem is his specialty--but one gets the sense that he has been raised as a prince of Asgard who is second in line to rule, and thus feels that (a) ruling is his birthright and his duty, and (b) he has been unfairly deprived of this and screwed over in Thor's favor (in addition to Odin's various other, ahem, unqualified successes at parenting). So he's got a massive chip on his shoulder and is looking for a planet to subjugate, but oh, honey, the insecurity and vulnerability are just rolling off you in waves through that paper-thin veneer of authority.
Not... that I can disapprove of dom!Loki at all, but dom!Loki is hot because of how over-the-top vicious and domineering he gets, and that is pure overcompensation. It's not that he's bad at it--he gets really into it. But it sits so unnaturally on him and his insecurity is so raw and open that the more into it he gets, the more he's actually just begging for someone to come along and deliver righteous smackdown whumpage.
