news from television land
i. My mother, on Community: "So when are Troy and Abed actually going to start dating?" This from the woman who loves both Life on Mars and White Collar, but thinks that Sam/Gene and the OT3 are far-fetched notions. Hey, Community writers! My het-centric mum thinks it should be canon Troy/Abed time!
ii. After ... roughly six years of a quiet internal will-I-won't-I and laughing at the fandom from afar, I ... appear to be watching Supernatural. I am watching it in a way where I am vetting episodes via wiki summary, and mostly watching the arc-plot stuff or the episodes with guest stars I like, and it is entirely possible that I will hit "Can't do this, too many dead women," sooner rather than laterbut on the other hand I watched all of s1 Game of Thrones. In any case, this television viewing brought to you by Dragon*Con, or more specifically Becca and Pali's two-hour late-night pitch about a show of, yeah, problematic stuff, but also codependency and moral ambiguity and other stupid things I love. And also Mark Sheppard's face. MARK SHEPPARD, WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT SO MANY SEASONS FOR YOUR FACE.
iii. I'm not actually sure I have a third television thing! But it seems asymmetrical otherwise. Eh, it's okay, I should be devoting more energy to writing than to watching things anyway.

Your approach sounds best.

And yeah, ended up mainlining the entire series (~100 episodes at that point) in 12 days, and 1.5 year later am still head over heels for Dean. :) :) :)
Still, the show is incredibly problematic, and I can't hold it against anyone for deciding to give up on it. But for me there is no other show that's reached this level of hitting so many of my narrative and character kinks.
Anyway, how far in are you? Don't skip 1x09, 1x12, 1x16, 1x18, or 1x20-22. ;)

Then again, Thor has basically cured me of any lingering distaste I may once have had for incest. Actually, I guess most of that was probably purged by bandom. So theoretically, if I learned to like Sam, I could do SPN.
So, I may do a Highlander-esque watch where, instead of the Methos bits, I watch the Castiel bits. I don't know when. Maybe Christmas break. Buuuut I look forward to your SPN updates, if you choose to do them!

And it's a less problematic show in general. I mean, it has its WTF moments (when they flub continuity they flub it big-time, and there's not nearly enough of Leena, and they pulled an Evil Bisexual, and I really really hope they're not pulling an Evil Gay Guy this season...), but it is full of Bechdel passing and other assorted win.

So, does this mean you might be writing SPN-fic sometime soon?
