LET'S KILL HITLER
That was ... Well, I am mostly going "Huh," but actually I spent quite a lot of this episode grinning my head off, so we will count it a win.
I wasn't actually expecting the Ponds to be able to find Melody in time and raise her, but "Mels did get to be your friend growing up!" doesn't actually help. Who the hell was actually clothing and feeding and raising Melody in Leadworth, then? Was it eyepatch lady? Why patiently let her do this? I am fairly sure Moffat won't ever answer that for us, though I want to hold onto the faint hope that we'll ever get to hear the conversation between River, Amy, and Rory at Demons Run after River's big reveal. ALL I'M ASKING FOR IS A LITTLE EMOTIONAL CLOSURE, MOFFAT.
That said, I fucking love early days River, who is a bit of a psychopath and totally into that guy she's been conditioned to kill. And the Doctor is totally into her too! They keep being clever at each other and dying in each other's arms and dear god does the Doctor have a type, is all I'm saying here. I would be perfectly happy to watch the River tries to assassinate the Doctor show for a while longer, though I guess she's off to be a doctor of archeology now. Who knows! Even full of holes, though, I am quite enjoying River's plotline.
There were a bunch of other little things I loved about the episode, too. I love how Moffat is apparently going to keep using young Amelia as long as Amy's on the show, and usually use her as holograms or aliens or other creepy things; APPROVE. I love everything Rory chooses to be, especially when he chooses to punch Hitler and stuff him in the cupboard and ride a motorcycle. I'm a bit sad that the ensemble doesn't really allow Amy to shine as much, but I still adore her. I love love love the bit where the Doctor asks the hologram to be someone he likes, and then it goes through Rose and Martha and Donna and he's like "COULD WE HAVE SOMETHING LESS GUILT-INDUCING" and I couldn't stop laughing. And oh goodness, I still adore Eleven. Could we maybe have an episode where he hangs out with Oscar Wilde? No particular reason, just I'd really like that to be the next historical. I bet they could convince Stephen Fry to guest.
Anyway, next week's looks like it could be quite creepy or quite rubbish, but either way I am glad to have Who back on my screen.

And even though I guessed about Mel, I was still: HOLY FUCKING SHIT! about it :D
River's story always confused me so much (just rewatched Silence in the Library) but I still love everything about her :D
As a German I was a bit disappointed that no one spoke German at all though...
And yes, this is finally the episode where I trully fell in love with Eleven. Took its time.
