to sherlock holmes she was always THE hurricane
You guys, this threat is BRIGHT PINK.

In all seriousness, though, stay safe and evacuate if you need to? I know way too many people in New York and Massachusetts to feel okay about this. I should be fine, though; Irene's hitting Carolina tonight, but I'm somewhere in the red or orange bands, so I'm not going out tomorrow and we might lose power, but we shouldn't have anything too threatening.
Earthquakes, hurricanes ... I don't know about you guys, but I'm holding out for a rain of frogs next. At worst, kind of gross; at best, adorable.

I was totally not freaked out at all until I went to the grocery store and couldn't buy any groceries because there were a billion people in the store and the line for check-out ran back to the dairy section and it was impossible to go up and down the aisles. But, um. I still think everything is probably going to be fine. I am glad I live on a hill.

Ahhh, oh god. I mean, as long as you have a reasonable amount of food for a day or two, and don't go out or take the subway? (I think they're predicting the subway's going to be flooded. EXCITING.) But I am very glad you live on a hill also!

Or perhaps DELICIOUS?
Yeah, this is too many natural disasters.

It really is. :/ Hopefully after this it'll let up for a while.

Well, they are CLOSING THE SUBWAY. Actually, they are closing all of New Jersey transit, and also all of the MTA -- subway, and trains, and buses. We are either supposed to evacuate before tomorrow night, or stay put until it is all over, depending on where we live. This shit is pretty crazy.

If I were still living there I'd be totally blasé about it, but I hope people are properly cautious and stay safe, not so much from the hurricane but from other people.

Er. But I hope everyone stays safe and there is minimal damage and scariness? The East Coast really has been taking a beating lately.
(I always picture rains of frogs with Muppets. Felt frogs of many sizes and shades of green falling from the sky, bouncing off trees and awnings and people's umbrellas, and going "Ow!" Definitely the cutest of all Biblical disasters!)

So much win for your subject line!
...amusement aside, it seems pretty bad for the more coastal areas. Fingers crossed.

I have no idea how worried to be. Especially given that, while we technically a mile from the shore, we are pretty much across the street from marshland connected to the beaches.

And yeah, the hurricane's now in the process of missing us by quite a bit, but I'm still anxious for everyone I know further north.

(...That is far and away the cutest of all possible Biblical disasters!)

And yeah, fingers crossed like mad. The hurricane's in the process of missing us right now, but I'm so anxious for everyone up north.

I would be ... fairly worried? I mean, the hurricane will hopefully have lost most of its force by the time it gets to you, but flooding might still be an issue. I dunno, I would check in with whatever local authorities who might have more informed advice for you. Basically, stay safe!

(And thank you! The hurricane is in the process of giving us a total pass, though, so I at least shall be fine.)
