It's amazing. Despite the incredibly shoddy special effects (which I think were pretty revolutionary at the time, actually; I've been told it was one of the first shows to use CGI instead of models) the plot is extremely smart, the aliens within their cultures are all given different personalities and motivations, the women are just as interesting and fleshed-out and awesome as the men (and I haven't been keeping careful track, but I'm fairly sure it passes the Bechdel test with flying colors) -- I don't agree with every single plotline, and I don't love every single character, but I love and agree with a lot more than is average on a TV show. Um, basically, it comes REALLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
