Um, this isn't really to support LJ--and I do have issues with vilifying them in this situation because the real problem lies with the companies that provide the tainted ad content--but it sounds like pretty circumstantial evidence to say that your computer's problems are the result of a virus obtained through a LJ ad.
Annnd to comment on that link, the unfortunate reality of the times is that there's very few, if any, places on the Internet that are genuinely "safe" spaces. It's helpful to get into the general mindset that venturing out onto the Internet should always done inside a "tank" of sorts-- anti-virus software that runs frequent scans, a computer equipped with the most recent patches/updates, strong passwords, and browser widgets like Ad-Block and No-Script.
