mm no

Well, after the joy of the last two episodes I was expecting Eastwick to get it wrong somehow. But still.

The thing is, I am delighted to watch the 'Roxie and Darryl have snarky banter, and make out, and then Roxie is Smarter Than Darryl' show. I love that show. I am basically happy to watch the 'Roxie doing anything at all' show. Likewise I am happy to watch the 'Kat has emotional turmoil, and Will is okay with that because Kat's emotional turmoil is sane, and soon Kat will start figuring out her powers' show, because that one is promising and also I may be deeply in love with Kat. I am even happy to watch the 'Penny and Joanna are horrible selfish human people who really love each other and figure this out eventually' show.

But dear god I don't want to watch the 'when Joanna uses her powers inadvisedly, the fact that she slept with a gay man who clearly didn't consent is played for laughs, and afterwards the bad-decision, non-consensual sex is likened to Penny's ill-advised affair with Jamie and the take-home message is that Joanna should maybe be a tiny bit less selfish' show. I mean, I am all for this weird mirror world where the women lead interesting emotional lives (even if I know I spent too much of this episode shipping them with various men & not enough time cheering their awesome relationships with each other); I am all for a world in which Chad is killed to further Roxie's emotional development, and Max stands hopefully on the sidelines, and Will makes himself emotionally available to Kat and puts his own needs second. This is all fantastic. I just don't want it to be such a freakish mirror universe that some men are reduced to props and rape is funny.

On the other hand, ehh, I only have five more episodes to agonize over whether I like it or not anyway.
