I don't even know how I ended up over here, but I have to give you snaps for this post because hell, yeah to the dS women!
What I've just discovered, though, is the real problem: Stella doesn't smile. Stella is unhappy. Stella is probably unhappy in much the same way that Ray is, except she doesn't have a Fraser-as-friend equivalent of her own.
I like Stella and yet, I agree with the quote above. Truthfully, I like that we got to see her softer side (with RayK during their quiet scenes in "Strange Bedfellows") even if just a few moments. After all, every other scene has her acting tough/cold/a combination of that. Given that she only shows up in 4 episodes total, we're not given too much into who she as an individual vs. who she is through both Rays' eyes.
It took me a while to see things from Stella's perspective--around three to four years after I joined the fandom.
Okay, full disclosure: I am madly in love with Lilah Morgan from Angel, and this may deeply color my perception of Denny Scarpa.
Ooooh, me too. In truth, I like Denny Scarpa better than I like Victoria. She might bluff/keep cool but she's not as much of an enigma as Victoria is. Where as Victoria's too much of a blank slate for my taste (as both a reader and a dS fan), I'm totally charmed by Denny's mystery.
Even loopier is that I think Denny/Fraser are hotter than Victoria/Fraser. Crazy, I know, but there you are.
Interestingly enough, the one female character I still haven't warmed up is Maggie Mackenzie. I don't know if it's the fact that she's *so* much like Fraser or what. All I know is that when it comes to Maggie, I feel about her the way you feel about Stella: I see where she's coming from, but I don't really like her.
ETA: You know who's the one-episode female character I'm head over heels for (other than Denny Scarpa, I mean)? Jill, the PT from "Letting Go." I love that she flirts with Fraser (even though I don't ship them together) without throwing herself all over him. She's smart and resourceful.
As a matter of fact, there's a plot bunny that's been sitting in my head for about a year or so. An AU in which Jill partners with Elaine to solve crimes. Because she's THAT awesome. :)
