But that's the thing. because Paul isn't playing _evil_. because the devil is not by definition evil. More part of the ineffable plan. In this case, the devil is something that sets you free to be exactly who you need to be. Not so much evil as amoralistic.
Consider also that the planet Venus was also called the lucifer - the light bringer, the morningstar, and a sign of the love-goddess's protection. So, assume that 'the devil' in this instance isn't so much the evil as he is the love, and now it's a whole new ballgame.
