In a process that continues to be extremely scientifically rigorous, rather than just pairing everyone off alphabetically, I've counted the number of respondents by fandom and paired characters off according to how many votes each fandom received total. I didn't account for fandom overlap, so in some cases it probably will just come down to which of the two characters you know, but hopefully it means characters from smaller fandoms can stay in the running a little longer.

(I confess organizing things this way also means that I get to witness the beautiful perfection of Alan Ryves vs Emily Thorne, but it is possible that I am one of maybe two people in the whole universe who might appreciate how great this is.)

And there were a couple of ties; in those cases, since I'm just sitting back with popcorn rather than voting, I decided on the breaking vote for those. Have at it!

Unexpectedly, I think the hardest decision was Kel vs. El (heh). I'm slightly bemused that Kel ended up as the Tortall pick, though. Really, Kel? She's so...bland. *hides from the apparently existent hordes of Kel fans*

I went for Kel anyway. Tamora Pierce forever, even if she's not my favorite character.

Also I would like that Spock vs. Loki fic.

Although also pleased, because the surge of Kel enthusiasm prompted me to pick up Protector of the Small again for the first time in a decade, and ohhh I love me some Tamora Pierce books. RIGHT? I JUST. SO GREAT. Of course now I want to write bizarre crossover fic. Demons in the Hamptons! Charming liars! Alan and Emily having one another's numbers in like three seconds flat! Meanwhile Nick is sarcastic at Victoria and Mae has a grand old time at the Stowaway! I ... suspect if Sin came along she would hate every second of it but be an excellent co-conspirator for Alan! And I suddenly ship Jamie/Nolan, HELP.
